We really enjoyed our stay at Maha Neka. The place and facilities are very basic, but it was all we needed. The views from the terrace are fantastic and the people running this place are so lovely. We were able to rent a scooter directly from them. The location is really good, close to great warungs and cafes, but you’ll need a scooter to get around Sidemen and other areas. Note that the villa has some permanently open holes in the walls (for ventilation, I assume), which means some geckos and bugs will inevitably make their way in. The sound of the surrounding nature was also quite loud during the night - personally, I didn’t mind and slept really well, but my partner had to use ear plugs.

The property is close to so many restaurants and easy walking distance to so much. You can rent a scooter from them or take leisurely walks. Breakfast is wonderful and Ayu and Ari are the sweetest most helpful owners.

Super nice host, very spacious and luxurious accommodation for the price, scooter rental available, the host even brought me all the way to the airport (2hr drive) in the evening because I couldn’t find a grab!! 10/10 experience, strongly recommend!

We loved Maha Neka and its owners! Such a nice family that goes extra mile to make you feel like home. I read in previous comments that there’s a building now obstructing the view. I didn’t find that as a problem considering the other building blends with the nature. That’s definitely not a reason not to choose this place. The room was spacious and very clean, the garden same, and it’s a big plus that they have their own restaurant if you’re not in the mood of going out. Loved it! Will definitely come back!

The extra activities organized by the owner were expensive. Our recommendation is to write down the promised price. E.g. We believed we agreed on a different price vs what we were charged for an afternoon trip to the temple (700 Rps to go to Besakih and back!). Climbing to Mt. Batur next to the passing motorcycles was also not a top experience. Make sure that the guide takes a different route. That left a bitter aftertaste.

Everything was good.

We spent 2 nights in Sidemen to relax and this accomodation was the perfect place for that. We loved to hang out on the terrace, hear the birds and crickets, and enjoy the surraoundings. The room is beautiful and well designed, clean, spacious and comfortable. The owners were super nice and friendly, we loved the fulfilling breakfast too.

It was perfect

The breakfast was excellent. The rooms were extremely peaceful and easy to sleep in at night. The staff were exceptional and even drove 2 hours to give us some items we left at the hotel and also dropped us to our new hotel after our stay . The location has plenty of good warungs and restaurants and all the attractions are a short drive on a scooter or car away. I loved my stay here and would love to come back .
