Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesWonderful location surrounded by jungle. The design is extremely well done and we spent many hours in the pool just looking out into the hills. Plants have all grown from online pictures also!

FinlandNothing wrong with the host, but our choice. We selected this hotel due to close the crystal beach. But the beach is not fantastic. The hotel situated in a valley surrounding jungle, very very humidity. Our first room was number 6, there were several gecko on the roof. I couldn’t sleep in first night due to its horrible sounds. One of it fall down to our toilet, it was 20 cm long! It’s not dangerous told by the staffs but just afraid it appears our bed. The staffs brought it to the forest but the sound was still on the roof. We requested to change the room and we move to number 1. It was ok.
Well maintained of the beautiful garden, nice swimming pool, friendly staffs, clean room/shower, smooth wifi. Food was ok but not very good. Maybe it’s same around this island.

Switzerlandthe rooms were nice, but the bed net was a bit hard to set up properly. the doors sometimes got a bit stuck, and for my smallest kid they were too heavy. not a real problem though.
The location is really great, in the middle of the jungle and at walking distance from a wonderful little bay, with snorkeling directly from the beach. try out the little restaurant on the left side of the beach "Warung beach and stones" The staff was very nice, very helpful (arranging transport etc) and friendly. The food at the restaurant was simple but very good. We were traveling with our kids (6 and 7 years old) and everything about this hotel was well suited for them.

AustraliaWe found some insects including leech inside the villa. The shower room roof was half open air( but we’d never seen from outside), so it gets poured when raining.
The restaurant inside this accommodation was very nice. They can serve not only Indonesian dishes but also western foods. We love their nasi goreng, Soto ayam and some kinds of pasta. They are so good.

AustraliaThe restaurant could be further improved. Breakfast options were good however dinner could be better. Hot water for showers are limited however these likely due to the isolated nature of the resort and part of the experience!
Mahaloka Valley offers a peaceful and comfortable stay in a jungle oasis near Crystal Bay Beach. The little wooden huts provide a truly unique experience to be surrounded by nature whilst still having the same levels of comfort and hospitality that a 'regular' resort provides. We were very well looked after by the owner and resort staff. Whilst the location is fairly isolated the resort offers taxi services or scooter hire to explore the island more easily. During our stay we were lucky enough to spot monkeys in the trees from the pool side.

AustraliaIt's hard to get around from this spot if you're not confident on a bike. The reception organised some taxis for us, but they weren't always available because the property is in a remote valley, so for most of our stay we had to eat dinner at the attached restaurant and stay at the villa. The restaurant had quite a few options and the food was alright, but if you're looking to explore more of the island and eat at a range of restaurants that are a bit further away, it's good to be a confident bike rider (especially with rocky roads and large hills).
Mahaloka Valley is beautiful. There's a stunning pool and the rooms are very cute. There's staff are friendly and it's only a short walk to Crystal Bay, where you can snorkel and enjoy the beach.

AustraliaWe stayed overnight so the distance from the main area of Penida wasn't an issue. Otherwise, i would say a little isolated. I felt a little more attention to the gardens would have elevated our experience.
The location at the end of a valley brought a special ambience. To arrive you travel a dirt road through a traditional village which we were thrilled to be amongst culture. We chose here because of location to Crystal Beach (700m) for a morning swim and snorkeling (anywhere past 10am and many tourists arrive). The staff were helpful, and the restaurant was good. The property is small and intimate. *Snorkelling Crystal Bay is probably best with an operator due to navigating the currents.

United KingdomThe location is great if you want to chill at the beach in Crystal Bay or in the beautiful pool at the hotel, however it is very remote and there’s not much around! It’s also worth noting, private transport and cars are more expensive in Nusa than mainland Bali so something to consider when deciding which location is best for your trip.
A beautiful peaceful oasis just 10 minute walk from Crystal Bay Beach on the west of the Island. Staff were super friendly and helpful in organising drivers, boat tickets etc. They also made cute decoration on the bed to celebrate our honeymoon. Food in the restaurant was lovely - good breakfast and we had dinner there one night too and was great!

Mahaloka Valley is a piece of paradise on the beautiful island of Nusa Penida, the resort location is truly amazing, the staff are the friendliest and the owner looked after all aspects of our holiday from our transfers by boat and car to island trips. United Statesthe breakfast start time is too late (at 7:30) Should have been earlier ie 6:00 or 6:30 as most guests would like to leave early to explore the island
Staff were very friendly. The owner even sometimes work at the front desk and very helpful and friendly. Told us a lot of stories about the place and gave us tips for traveling the island. He also asked his staff to pick up some coconut from the trees for us for free.

AustraliaIt's a bit expensive (relatively) to get there and other places around the island by taxi, but not a major problem. The coffee provided with the breakfast was very disappointing compared to other cheaper places we stayed in Bali - just half a small cup, and it was also half cold. I just like a nice coffee in the morning, and in most places in Bali have got a good strong, big coffee provided with the breakfast. The restaurant is good for meat eaters, but as a vegetarian I found my breakfast options were much smaller.
Beautiful natural location and garden, nice pool, nice huts. Helpful staff. Walking distance from Crystal Bay and Pandan Bay.
