Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaWe requested at booking for twin beds, to arrive fairly early in the day and advised that they dont have any twin beds available and cant guarantee them as they sent an email confirming this which I didnt get time to read as travelling and many emails came from MATHIS. People request this option for a reason, it was a very uncomfortable 15mins as I absolutely did not want to be sharing a queen bed with my travel companion. We eventually sorted it out and we were upgraded to a beautiful room with sort of twin beds, ultimately we loved our stay.
This is a beautiful little retreat away from the craziness of Ubud traffic. Its not a long trip into town maybe about 5mins taxi. Too far to walk. We hired a little scooter so it wasnt a problem for us. Absolutely loved waking up to the rice patties in the morning with the ducks quacking away in their little pond. The breakfast was lovely too. Our room was beautiful and bed super comfy. Would happily stay again. There is a great Swiss restaurant down the road well worth going to and a nice change from the normal Bali food options. Also a massage place not far from it too.

DenmarkThe rooms are a bit old and worn. They lack soundproofing and there is a hint of a musty smell. We switched from a bungalow to a room due to noise from the neighbouring aircondition waking up our baby.
An incredible location overlooking the beautiful rice fields north of Ubud center. The pool and restaurant are really good and the staff is sooo nice and welcoming.

HungaryThe room wasn't cleaned well. There was some hair on the bathroom floor from the previous guests. And the water pressure in the bathroom was very low.
The breakfast was very delicious. Kind and helpful staff. The hotel has a calm and peaceful atmosphere. Beautiful pool and garden area. It's around 10 min taxi away from the center of Ubud.

United StatesEverything was far and away above our expectations. We have nothing to write about that we didn't like.
This beautiful resort was truly an oasis in Ubud. Every employee made us feel like we were family. The pool was spectacular and the rooms were beautiful. The bed pillows and sheets were luxurious. The Terracotta restaurant food was outstanding for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff was exceptional in assisting us to get to and from the medical center two days in a row when my husband developed bronchitis. They couldn't have been kinder and more helpful and comforting. We loved the complimentary activities like yoga and trekking and making blessing baskets. The massages were spectacular and so affordable. We loved it here so much we rarely left the property.

United StatesThe rooms given to us initially - we could see mold on the ceiling of the connecting hall. This was a bit frightening. Also, The AC in one of our rooms wasn't working upon arrival - wish this was checked and fixed before we were given the room. We had to eventually change rooms the next day.
Breakfast is excellent with great options. Fresh fruits are served daily and the fresh fruit juice/smoothie is excellent to start the day. Just wish they incorporate more Balinese breakfast options.

PolandUnfortunately the restaurant only has one baby chair, which causes issues in the morning when there are more than one family with children. Buying a few more would definitely ease the morning pressure for families. Also, the spa session (We tried two different massages), although in very pleasant atmosphere, was not too professional.
Mathis turned out to be a great resort in Ubud, very peaceful and elegant. We stayed there with a small child and enjoyed it a lot. Our son loved the swimming pool, as well as the duck house where guests are allowed to feed the ducks. The views from the terrace and pool were amazing, the food at Terra Cotta restaurant - delicious. We had an incident with the staff giving our allergic son nuts in his breakfast (even though we warned and doublechecked with them to not do it), which fortunately did not cause any severe allergic reaction. The mistake was grave but the reaction of the staff to the situation was adequately serious and generous. The manager offered to provide us with a tour similar to the one we had had to cancel because of the incident, as well as offered us a late checkout which turned out to be a real life saver for our baby, considering our late-night flight back home. Worth noting- the hotel provides free shuttles to Ubud city center twice a day.

EstoniaWe had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel! From the moment we arrived, the staff impressed us with their friendliness and genuine hospitality. On the first day, we needed to change our room as it wasn’t convenient for us with a baby, and the staff handled it quickly and without any fuss. Their flexibility and understanding made such a difference. The restaurant team was fantastic—always accommodating our special requests, especially for our toddler, who can be quite tricky to feed. They were so patient and kind, going above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. Every interaction with the staff was a pleasure; their constant smiles and positive energy made our stay even more enjoyable. A truly amazing moment was on Christmas when the hotel surprised us with thoughtful small gifts—such a lovely touch that really made us feel special. Another standout example of their exceptional service was when I accidentally left my passports in the room after moving to another part of Bali. The hotel staff reacted immediately and sent them to me with a driver. I can’t thank them enough for their swift response and professionalism. As for the location, it’s perfect—peaceful and serene, with stunning views of rice terraces, yet only a 15-minute drive to the center (traffic permitting). It offered the best of both worlds. I can’t recommend this hotel enough for its outstanding service, beautiful location, and the genuinely warm atmosphere created by the incredible staff. We’ll definitely be back!
