Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

HungaryThere is only one bathroom and shower at every floor and they are in the same space so only one person can use them at a time. They did not look clean either. There is also a sink outside the shower/toilet that was not working on my floor so there was only one for the whole hostel (many beds!) there are no working lockers, I did not feel very safe.
It is very close to the station if you are in Surabaya for transit only.

ItalyThis hostel is truly for adventurous travelers. I return to the hostel around midnight and go to sleep. After an hour, I wake up suddenly due to the noise. People come and go, everyone starts packing their suitcases, not respectful. I consider leaving immediately, but with only 3 hours left, I decide to stay. An hour passes, and a guy with symptoms of vomiting is heard, which really scares me for fear of catching some illness. With the air conditioning making noise all night, there's a big risk of getting sick. This hostel is really a challenge. Out of the planned 6 hours of sleep, I only slept for 3. One must be prepared to take on the challenge and put their HEALTH at stake. Never come back even for free.

United KingdomI stayed on 3rd floor and the washroom is just one, used by many people. Look for the upper or downstairs toilet if you are in queue and rush instead
Great place to stay either you backpacker or with another person, this hotel is near to Gubeng train station, about 5 minutes walk. Easy access for you to / from the train. Nice and clean place, good mannered staffs as well

United KingdomThe hostel bathrooms are disgusting and there aren’t enough of them. Massive dorms (we’re talking 20+ beds) on a floor with only 1 toilet/shower. There are 5 more showers on level 4 but that just simply isn’t enough, and the shower smelt of pee and everything just seemed dirty. The bed space itself was clean but the bedding was frayed and had holes all in it. All the lockers are broken so don’t expect to be able to lock your things up
Location is good

United KingdomWe had to pay on arrival before they showed us the room. Then there was luggage and someone else's personal belongings already on the bed. The bed had clearly been slept in and used. They were also fully booked so had no spare bed for us, yet we were refused a refund. The hostel is not really prepared for guests traveling to Surabaya. However, the staff did seem rather polite with the exception of refusing us a refund. Also, LIVVIN HOSTEL AND LIFE HOTEL next door are all the same company.. avoid all.
Nothing.

GermanyOverall, it was unclean, the bathroom was dirty and everywhere was shampoo and toothpaste. The bin was as full as a bin in a bar bathroom. There was neither a locker nor a place to put your stuff.
The location is nice and close to the train station. For 1 night it was passable due to the cheap price. The bed was comfortable.

United StatesNone of the lockers work so your bags are not secured with 20 people in a room. You can leave your bags in the lobby but no one watching and fully exposed

United StatesThe bed sheets many holes in it because it was too old and should be thrown away. The room has 20 people with only 1 bathroom for only 1 person to use. Then strangly there’s 5 bathroom on 5 th floor where the staff live.
