Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaReally great experience here! The room was private, spacious, clean and everything was working well. The outside balcony was also private. The art is beautiful and everyone involved in running the place was lovely and helpful. There's a "common" area too where there is water, tea, coffee, with some tables so if you have some friends it would be a nice place to stay together, too. I can't recommend this place enough!

ItalyThe room was quite hot, I just used it to sleep. With the fan on I slept very good, however the house itself quite hot and I wouldn’t chill there, but stay there just for sleeping. It was quite loud during the call for prayer but after the first night I got used to it and didn’t hear it. The hosts were nice but didn’t give me much advice on where to go or how to get around, but luckily I found other tourists that helped me. It’s quite safe and many restaurants are around.
The homestay was simple, in a quiet street and the hosts were very sweet and friendly, the room was very clean and they provided towel and toilet paper. Was nice to be surrounded by art.

AustraliaHonestly, nothing. I used mosquito repellent but I did not see any mosquitoes around. I did notice that smoking is allowed inside, no one smoked during my stay so it was fine.
I have special and wonderful experience here, it contributed to me falling in love with Yogyakarta. If you are an arty person, you will love staying here. Not to mention, the price is extremely reasonable. The whole building and bedroom is very beautiful with a serene, inspiring feeling - even better than the photos. Many artworks to admire and lots of art books to read. The single bedroom was very clean and the family is lovely. Free tea, coffee, drinking water, shared mini fridge. I loved learning about the late Godod Sutejo, learning about his generous and artistic way of life and admiring his tranquil & playful paintings. My only regret is that I could not stay longer, next time I am in this city I will 100% stay here.

ColombiaEverything was incredible. Is a place with a lot of heart and positive energy. My only regret is that I couldn’t say goodbye to the staff the morning I left (I hope they read this and know that I am very grateful and wish them the best).

IndonesiaIt was hot and humid in the room during the day. There was only one toilet to be shared with other guests.
The art is beautiful and the family who runs the homestay was lovely. It is located in a quiet area of the neighbourhood. The place was clean and has all the basic amenities. Scooter rental available, too. Overall, this place provides value for your money.

SwitzerlandMy room was clean but the shared toilet/shower wasn't, nor the shared area. I had the impression that the owner didn't really care about the homestay and made little effort to run it. My room could be extremely hot when the door was closed and there was just a fan to cool it off.
The Homestay is very conveniently located in a nice area of Yogya, full of restaurants and bars and only 20' away from the Kraton. The place is a real art gallery, so it's nice to have a look and the works displayed while you having a tea. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed. My room was small but had everything. I also like that in the shared area there was a fridge, a.water dispenser and the possibility to make yourself coffee and tea whenever you wanted. It was also possible to buy some homemade herbal tea.

Indonesiacheap, comfortable, the room was clean. i think they need to fix the exhaust noisy sound. and also the shower, the water is a bit slow. i like the paintings the most. i was in awe seeing those excellent paintings! Plus, I had the chance to chat a bit with the master himself, Pak Godod, who were nice, humble and friendly while explaining to me briefly abt his career as a proffesional painter.

MalaysiaPak Godod and wife plus everyone at the homestay was so nice. You as a guest are living in their home and art gallery of works by Pak Godod, a well-known local painter At the time I was there, Pak Godod had an art exhibition. Alot of people came on 1-2 days. So if you want peace and quit just don't be at the homestay during such event. Have to check with them if there are any. I personally didn't mind and enjoyed it.

Indonesia- Nothing. Everything felt so righr and perfect.
- The place was very strategic. Any places such as convenience store to laundry and to the bar were within walking distance. - Pak Godod and his family were very accommodating and friendly! Felt like staying with relatives instead of staying at a homestay. - Clean and artistic place. Surely gave me some calmness. - Unlimited drinking water on dispenser and coffee/tea supplies. - 10/10 would be staying at this place again!

BelgiumWe loved the fact that this is the house of a painter who lives there with his lovely wife. You can see his beautiful work on the walls of the house. We spend one evening with him and his friends just talking and watching him paint. This was amazing and will treasure this souvenir. About the room, the bed was clean and comfortable and we slept very well.
