Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

MoldovaI wish my stay in Sahadewa house was longer and I will definitely be back. I can’t recommend this property enough - staying with a Balinese family and experiencing the authentic culture was definitely the highlight of my trip. I loved the house, the breakfast was delicious and it was so peaceful waking up there every morning. They were very friendly and always willing to assist. Wayan was extremely nice to drive me to the rice fields and also to the temple to do a purification ceremony.

SpainSince my room was below ground level, there was occasionally a slight humidity smell, but nothing a bit of incense couldn’t fix. Important tip: Be careful when entering the location into Google Maps! Make sure to select Sahadewa House—I made the mistake of choosing the wrong one.
Sahadewa House is a family-run hotel, which makes it feel even more special. Upon arrival, you’re welcomed with a warm greeting and offered coffee or tea, along with a clear and helpful explanation of the facilities. The breakfast is simple but satisfying, you won’t go hungry in the morning! The space is calm, well-organized, and ideal for a relaxing stay. The kitchen is correct and you have a fridge to store the food. The location is decent; there’s a great gym nearby, but you’ll likely need a bike or a Grab to get around easily. My room was spacious and cleaned daily. Towels and shower gel were provided, which was a nice touch.

AustraliaIt was hard to get hot water from the shower, so we spent a night or 2 having some cold-ish showers. Don't get me wrong, refreshing after a hot, muggy day. However, a warm shower would've been nice too. We came back one afternoon to find our front door wide open. Nobody was inside, thankfully, so whoever cleaned must've forgotten to close the door. Also, the lock on our door was a bit dodgy and we found ourselves locked in until we managed to unlock it.
The family was absolutely beautiful, so welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast they provided was so fresh and delicious and they were always there, ready for you when you wanted your breakfast. The room was very clean and had your standard facilities and they would come around to your room daily to tidy it and make your beds. There was also aircon and a fan in your room which was nice for those muggy days.

NetherlandsA minor improvement would be a hairdryer, not only for your hair but also for drying shoes that get soaked during the rainy season. I inquired about hairdryers, but they simply don’t provide them. Additionally, the shower is unreliable—sometimes the water is warm, other times it’s cold. A consistently warm shower would have been nice during the rainy season. Lastly, the curtains are not blackout and allow light to filter in. The main reason I wouldn’t stay here again is the lack of soundproofing in the rooms. While the garden in the center of the complex is peaceful, the hotel rooms are located next to a road, making them prone to noise from passing traffic, barking dogs, and construction workers. Moreover, I could hear guests in the room next to me chatting and coughing. On one occasion, I had to get out of bed around 02:30 AM to ask guests who were sitting outside on the terrace and talking loudly to keep their voices down, as no staff were present to address the noise pollution.
The hotel features a stunning traditional Balinese garden and real Balinese family home, creating a serene and peaceful retreat. The family that owns the place is kind and welcoming. My room was clean, with a large double bed, a wardrobe, and a drying rack—especially useful during the rainy season for drying soaked clothes. I also appreciated the small desk, perfect for working on my laptop. A shared kitchen with a fridge and freezer is available for storing food and drinks. There is also a free potable water tank. The staff offers to clean your room daily. Moreover, the location was excellent, a 30-minute walk from both Ubud Monkey Forest and Ubud Royal Palace.

IndiaHouse is on congested road. If you have vehicle of your own then it would be difficult. Otherwise, all good.
They say the best way to truly understand a place is by immersing yourself in its culture and connecting with its people—and this beautiful heritage home gave us the perfect opportunity to do just that. From the moment we arrived, we felt the warmth of the local hospitality, the charm of tradition, and the rich cultural essence of Bali. Staying here felt like becoming part of a Balinese family and gaining an intimate glimpse into their way of life. The rooms were cosy and thoughtfully maintained. Despite the heat in town during our visit, the air conditioning kept the rooms cool and comfortable. The bed and linens were pristine—clean, crisp, and inviting. The entire property is impeccably cared for, reflecting a deep respect for its heritage. The hosts were truly wonderful, sharing fascinating stories about how this home has been passed down through four generations, making our stay even more special. We felt a deep connection to this place and would absolutely love to return in the future!

PhilippinesThe only minor downsides were that it’s about a 10-15 minute walk to Ubud Market, which might not be ideal for everyone, and I think a larger mirror in the room would have been nice. Overall, it’s a fantastic place to stay with great hospitality and a serene setting. Highly recommended!
Here’s an honest review based on your points: I had a wonderful overnight stay at this lovely property. From the very start, the experience was seamless—our host kindly arranged a pick-up for us, which made arriving late at night stress-free. Despite our midnight check-in, they waited for us with a warm welcome. The room was immaculate and smelled amazing, immediately making me feel comfortable. The bed was incredibly cozy, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. Breakfast was provided the next morning, which was a nice touch, and the host was so polite and kind throughout our stay. The property itself is charming, with a beautiful garden that adds to the peaceful, quiet environment. It’s a place where I truly wished I could have stayed longer.

AustraliaThis isn't the right spot if you want to be in the heart of Ubud's business (not me). Nestled within a quietish neighbourhood (with stunning properties, worth a wander), it is a good 30-45 min walk to the main strip in Ubud. We caught taxi's and did once walk the distance, but with time limits and a child this wasn't desirable.
Sahadewa House was a great find. We only stayed one night but would return on another trip to Bali. The property was in mint condition, and the rooms were spotless, providing only the necessities for the stay, reflected in the cost—how I like to travel. The owner provided a simple breakfast, which was a much better option than the buffet breakfast offered at other accommodations, which I find incredibly wasteful. This was a truly authentic Balinese experience, which I would highly recommend.

NetherlandsThe only issue is (pretty much most of central ubud) the noises from the street. I am quite a sensitive person and I needed to sleep with my ear plugs.
Wow what superb service! This was the first place I stayed after arriving and it has set such high bars that has not (I think it could hardly be possible) been met by other places I've stayed at yet. Wayan & Nyoman really went above and beyond to help guests to have the best experience possible. In the first few days I was having difficulty adjusting to timezone and always woke up around 3 pm, they were kind enough to still provide me breakfast - without any arbitrary deadline of 11 am or so as most other property if not all have. They genuinely wanted me to get the most value out of my money since breakfast is included. Wayan was very kind to drive me to town on his scooter quoting me a cheaper price than gojek and later even drove me to my new accommodation with his car - he took me through a narrow alley that most taxis will refuse to go into. What's more, after realizing I had left my phone at their place after checking out and dropping me off, he came again to bring my phone... They let me check out later as well without any issues. All this was without mentioning what a beautiful place they have - so clean and peaceful. The type of real Balinese house I wanted to experience - especially as a fan of eat, pray, love. Everyday the room is cleaned so perfectly. Wayan would light the incense for mosquitos if he sees me seating outdoors. They would also bring my shoes inside when it starts raining... All these details. Wifi was working perfectly since I needed to work everyday. A short walk to yoga barn. Thank you so so much!
