Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United Arab EmiratesThe location is very convenient as all of Ubud is in walking distance. The over friendly staff is very helpful and can arrange most everything. Some facilities could use a refreshing but it is overall very good value for the money.

GermanyNothing! It was perfect, we didn’t miss anything!
Sam’s cottages is really a hidden gem behind the buzzling streets of Ubud. The arrangement of the cottages and the location was wonderful, our villa very modern, comfortable and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful! We can highly recommend this place and would definitely come again!

AustraliaOnly reason we didn't rate as excelled was that we didn't find the staff friendly and the pool area was fairly small.
It is a great location with beautiful gardens. The cottages are clean and tidy. We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 small children). There are plenty of places nearby for good food, yoga, massages etc.

New ZealandEverything great, very happy and would stay again.
Loved the breakfast brought to your room each morning. The pool area is lovely, quiet with plenty of sun loungers. Samas Cottages are in a very central area of Ubud however very quiet and secluded. An easy walk into town.

United KingdomPeace and quiet in a beautiful tropical location just 5 minutes walk to the Water Palace and centre. Breakfast ordered from nearby cafe served on your cottage terrace. Gorgeous pool with shade from trees and comfy loungers. Mosquito nets around bed but there didn't seem to be any.. Has it's own spa. One couple were on their 10th visit. Barely saw anyone else.

AustraliaLighting could have been brighter in the rooms. Some staff had very little English, so trying to get our requests across was sometimes very difficult, though I could see they tried very hard.
The property is centrally located just off a main road, yet it offers a tranquil environment free from traffic noise. The cottages are clean and well-maintained, featuring spacious bathrooms and excellent air conditioning, along with reliable Wi-Fi. The pool is lovely and well-kept, with both a deep end and a shallow end to stand up in. There are always plenty of towels and recliners available. With a limited number of guests at any given time, the atmosphere remains quiet and peaceful. The staff were friendly and attentive.

New ZealandOn arrival my door would not lock and the bathroom sink plug did not work. The door lock was repaired the next day but the sink plug never did get addressed. Not a major but I would have liked to have done some hand washing.
I stayed at Sama's for 5 nights with a friend and we had 2 cottages at the very end of the property facing each other but with a meditation deck and beautiful grounds surrounding us. Sama's is very central for Ubud and although off a main street there was no traffic noise in the property. The traffic was unbelievable so we ended up walking everywhere and were very grateful for the good location of Sama's cottages. The cottages are attractive with a comfortable bed, good shower, large bathroom and great air conditioning. The Wi-Fi worked well. Each cottage has its own veranda where breakfast was brought to us each morning. There is a good selection for breakfast and we had fruit, juice, coffee and eggs/bacon. There is bottled water in the room. Monkeys and squirrels romped through the trees behind the property but did not bother us. The pool was lovely with a proper deep end, a descent size with plenty of towels and recliners. As there are limited guests at Sama's the pool was usually very quiet. An adjoining Café can provide room service throughout the day but we choose to roam the plentiful local and close restaurants. We did not use the spa services but they were available. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The staff kept the property and cottages spotless and the sound of sweeping became quite soothing. The staff were never intrusive. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Ubud.

AustraliaVery good location- on the Main Street full of gorgeous restaurants and bars etc. Nice staff and room was big. One fault would be the bugs in the room ( small amount ) however it’s hard to get away from as it’s in the jungle! Would recommend this hotel just bring some bug spray :)

AustraliaThe front door needs to be fixed, no security concerns but there was a gap in the front that let the bugs in.
Location is perfect! You can walk 10 mins to monkey forest and avoid the traffic on the main road! The family deluxe was huge and more than enough space for 2A and 2C. The property is well maintained and the lush garden creates a sense of peace and breakfast is simple yet delicious.
