Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaMy stay at Sandag Hill was an unforgettable experience. Tucked away in a serene corner of Bali, this place is perfect for nature lovers seeking peace and a deep connection with the surroundings. Sandag Hill truly feels like a hidden gem, untouched by the crowds, offering a silent and tranquil escape. The villa is beautifully immersed in nature, with sweeping views of the rice fields and local farmers, offering a glimpse into Bali's rural lifestyle. The attention to detail is evident everywhere, from the impeccably clean interiors to the incredibly comfortable bed. The villa itself is a labor of love, built by the owners – a lovely couple. . I was amazed by the astonishing work they've put into making everything perfect, including providing hot water, which isn’t always easy to come by in more remote areas. The food, cooked by the wife, was delicious and incredibly affordable. We stayed for two nights and order 2 dinners for 2 and paid 22 cad. The owners also organize trips. We visit the Water Temple and the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia. While the villa provides an electric repellent in the bedroom, I’d recommend bringing your own just in case. But we had no insects in our bed. Sandag Hill is a peaceful retreat for anyone looking to escape into nature while still enjoying the comforts of home. We travelled all around Bali and it's my favorite place.

It was magical. It seriously takes your breath away. The location was off the beaten track. So close to nature. The property itself smelt beautiful and had all you needed. Gede helped me to go to a silver making workshops and drove me there personally. I am extremely thankful for such a beautiful stay. Would not recommend for elderly/challenged as it’s a tricky walk. But this made it all the more beautiful for those with all abilities.

IndonesiaWell, unfortunately, the food was not good. Privacy is a bit tricky in that kind of open rooms where you can hear your neighbors but it's ok for 1 or 2 nights. Otherwise, you will enjoy the sound of the nature around you and make you sleep well.
A unique experience, in the middle of the rice fields, outside of the classic hotels. Super relaxing. All the comfort and necessary equipment in a charming bamboo room with a beautiful view. Very confortable bed. Welcoming staff.

United KingdomThe walk to the villas was an adventure in itself and although it is not something I personally disliked (as the whole experience was wonderful) the walk could be tricky to navigate if you had mobility issues
To stay at Sandag is more than a hotel it is a unique experience, a truly wonderful experience. Our bamboo villa was spotlessly clean with open views of the countryside where you can just immerse yourself in nature. The staff were amazing and brought our food up to our villa. It was one of our best stays in Bali definitely recommend to stay here

GermanyNothing to complain about at all
The Bamboo Houses of Sandag Hill are amazing. The view across the rice fields of Sidemen and to the hills of the sleeping elephant is breathtaking, the sunrise and the evenings are great. Restaurants are nearby, but you need a bike or a car. Access to the houses are unusual as you need to walk on the sometimes narrow banks of the irrigation system above the houses and get down some steep stairs, however it is all a matter of getting used to. The houses were super clean and well equipped, for the big house be aware the toilet is outside ;o). Rice Field hiking with local guides strongly recommended, they can start and end at the houses. The team is so caring and their food is good. It has been a pleasure to stay. Thanks a lot to the crew. Carsten & Rahmat

SingaporeA little bit more privacy in the shower area would be great, so we wouldn't need to put on any covering during showers as passersby/staff can see you through the bamboo pole used as walls/screen in the shower area.
The host and staff were awesome. They were available 24/7. One morning, we had to get up at 3:30 a.m. and were shocked that there was no water supply. We contacted Gede, and he was on it immediately. 10-15 mins later, the water is back on. The Wifi is very strong and fast despite being in the middle of paddy fields and near a forest. The place is very clean. The view of the mountains and the rice field directly from our stay is second to none. The walk from the main road to the villa can be quite narrow in some areas, and you must be careful. But we enjoyed the experience of walking back along the stream to our villa and enjoying the view of the rice fields. The walk to Sandar Villa takes about 4 minutes from the main road, and it can be rather slippery and muddy after rain. And the speaker provided in the villa was a nice thought. Here's a snippet of the walk from the main road to the villa to give you a better idea of what you will be experiencing at this stay: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSjxfXnAk/ TIPS: 1) Pack a small torchlight to take with you if you return after 6.30 pm. The walk along the stream back to your villa is not well-lit. Some areas are in total darkness, and you can barely see your feet. The last thing you want is to miss a step and hurt yourself. Though the torch from your phone may help, it may not be bright enough. The villa provides a torch, but it's a tad too big to take it with you in your handbag. 2) Always keep the netting to cover your bed to avoid tiny insects and dust from the roof and dirty your bed linen. 3) Off all lights just before sunrise to avoid any bugs and insects flying in - especially those attracted to lights. 4) Wake up early and enjoy the sunrise. 5) Stay is NOT Recommended for families with young kids

AustraliaNot much we didn't like. The only thing worth noting is that you will want to order your food/drinks in advance as it takes some time to prepare. If it ever has a pool, it would be perfect.
We really loved how quiet and relaxing the location is. The place is well made, really clean, and felt super homely. The sound of the running river/waterfall is really nice and peaceful 🙏 We stayed in the larger villa, which was nice having a separate living and sleeping spaces. Good value, if you're looking for a place away from any busyness, this is perfect. Gede was super friendly and welcoming, very hospitable and helped with any plans or requests we needed. Thank you for your hospitality.
