Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsWe had a lovely stay in Sandag Hill! Gede and his wife are very kind. They will help you with everything you need. In the morning they bring you breakfast at the bamboo hut, so you can eat with an amazing view! Sandag Hill is really beautiful! They thought about every single detail. The shower is also made of bamboo and is outside. But with warm water and a beautiful view, you will definetly like it! You can watch the sunrise from your bed. We will come again!

United KingdomIt’s possibly the most unique property I’ve ever stayed in. The bamboo palace sits atop a terraced chilli plantation and it’s open-fronted view offers a stunning panorama of the landscape in the distance. The place is incredibly secluded. The water is warm and has amazing pressure considering the location! The toilet has possibly the best view of any bathroom in bali. There is a small kitchenette with a sink, a kettle, a fridge, tea, coffee and biscuits and we were even provided with fresh oranges, bananas and snake fruit. When we arrived there were fresh flowers in every room. Everything was perfect, clean, tidy… absolutely beautiful. We had dinner down at the restaurant, the food was good and the coconuts were cool and fresh! They brought our breakfast up to the villa so we could enjoy the view whilst we ate. Gede looked after us amazingly throughout our stay. He is such a lovely person and was incredibly helpful! We didn’t have any problems with bugs or mosquitos, the open plan nature of the building keeps the air circulating well inside so the bugs stay away. The linen mosquito net around the incredibly comfy king-size bed also did the job well overnight. Relaxing in bed with the stars right in front of you is an amazing feeling! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the Sideman area! I will 100% be going back at some point! Everything about the stay was perfect!

United KingdomNil. Fantastic stay.
My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic stay in this beautiful property for our anniversary. The team were so welcoming and helpful both on arrival and throughout our stay, even helping to arrange transport. We booked this pretty last minute and were fortunate to be of the first guests to stay in this brand new property. This stay is an absolute must for anyone travelling to Sidemen. The views are breathtaking and the setting is genuinely magical. The photos truly do not do this place justice. Access to the property is via the waterway supplying the rice terraces, among which the villa is perched. The villa provides panoramic views across the valley and allows for a breathing sunrise view from bed. The villa is really well equipped with sockets and lighting and the toilet and shower facilities felt brand new. Given the open plan nature of the building, a mosquito/insect net is necessary around the bed. This is provided and worked great. Collectively, we could not recommend Sandag Bamboo Villa enough. An absolutely beautiful new property in Sidemen that will doubtlessly become very popular.

FranceCould be more clean, for example the pillow was completely moldy. Also, there is a lack of intimity, the house was completely open on the sides, there was a path with frequently some people just above our shower and toilet. Furthermore, a camera is installed in the leaving room! why?
The view on the valley is amazing. You are in the nature. You literally sleep and live without windows and it is a good feeling. There is no air conditioning, what is normal and ok, so it is good for one or two nights but maybe not for a full week.

IndonesiaDidn't like the food.
Everything was amazing excepg for the food.. It was not that good and old bread served plus old fruit sometimes so I advice not to eat there and go out to the many amazing places around. The view is exceptional and the accommodation in a very beautiful bamboo style with cute furniture and gadgets. I loved it for sure but my advice, don't eat there.

AustraliaWe had really looked forward to our stay, to relax and be comfortable HOWEVER even though we are pretty fit and adventureous (late 60s) and not afraid of a challenge it soon became clear that SANDAG HILL should really be advertised as GLAMPING. Take note... it is NOT a Villa, it is 'Glamping' at best. Guests need to be made aware that the property, being on the side of a hill, is FULLY OPEN to the elements. The wind is pretty constant and when combined with rain it's is not a pleasant place, especially downstairs. Upstairs is only a little more shielded. The toilet is an out-house, the shower is in the open air. It's no fun going to the toilet at night when the rain is coming down hard. View our pictures attached and it is easy to understand how open and exposed the place is. Note the floor, bamboo poles, maybe ok to put up with for a day or two but longer? There is a distinctly strong foul smell upstairs probably the dampness having settled into the mattress or from the couch upstairs which is filthy. Also apart from the hammock which is not suitable with wind and rain there are NO comfortable chairs. Reluctantly we write this review but despite the efforts that Gede and his wife made we have to be honest and must warn other potential guests to ensure they do not end up as disappointed as we were. Finally, there are other comments about the approach to the property, in truth it is definately NOT a short walk and unless one is very sure on ones feet, great care must be taken. We counted the number of steps, 300 to get to the property along a concrete wall, about 250mm wide, adjacent to an irrigation channel. Next to that wall, here and there, is about a foot of growth/grass and in many places next to that is a sheer drop.....in places at least 50 mtrs or more. At one stage I slipped on the wet grass and had I not fallen toward the channel and able to steady myself I would have fallen down that sheer drop...
We loved the location / the views were amazing. Gede and his wife were exceptionally friendly and helpful but... although we booked for 7 nights... after 2 nights we had to make the decision to leave as it became too uncomfortable for reasons explained below and without compensation.

United KingdomFor me I struggled with large hornets coming in, maybe I realised open plan living isn't for me! The floors are uncomfortable so shoes are best worn. I struggled as well with the walk to the hut as I'm scared of heights.
Beautiful little hut right in nature. Stunning views, nice open bathroom. The sounds of nature at night can soothe you tok sleep, feeld a unique stay.

FranceThe main downside was that our cabin wasn't easy to access. Although the staff actually provides assistance to get there, it would be better to give notice about this prior to the arrival. The food was nice, but the portions could be a bit bigger.
If you are looking to a quiet and natural environment, Sandag Hill is the perfect place. Our cabin was on top of the hill and we had a gorgeous view of the valley. The staff was super available and extremely friendly, which made our experience even better. Good Wifi connection

MoroccoThe listing showed photos from the larger nicer house and when we arrived we given the smaller of the two with inferior view. It was still nice but misleading.
