I booked a single bed and was upgraded to the double which was great! A little hot at night but worth the stay. Wish I stayed more than one night :)

Nothing really - prices are a bit high in the restaurant but thats just compared to warungs nearby. Although coffee is only 5k, which is amazing!

We had the double bed in the shared dorm,it was sooooo comfy 😍. Great aircon also. The room was very clean, shower nice. Staff lovely with good restaurant and bar 🥰. Location is great, close to train station. Also - Do the free city tour!! We had an amazing guide who was so kind and knowledgeable, it was truly our highlight of Malang.

We loved our stay at Shelter hostel! Very convenient location, amazing food downstairs, very comfortable bed and clean common bathrooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We can definitely recommend to stay at this hostel!

This is absolutely one of my favourite hostels that I’ve stayed at in the past four months. The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful, the facilities lack for nothing, the food they prepare is amazing, and overall, I felt totally at home here.

One of the nicest places we have stayed. From the minute we arrived, the staff were so friendly and fun. We had a private room and shared bathroom and it was spotless. Really cool design too. We don’t usually go for a shared bathroom but this one actually felt like our own. There seems to be plenty toilets and showers available for everyone. The toilet and shower was so clean, never once ran out of toilet paper etc and the shower was amazing!! We went on the waterfall trip which was brilliant and again the staff were so good! The food- myself and my husband discovered the “curry chicken sandwich” on the first night, three days later, we had 7 of them in total, I couldn’t order anything else because that was so good! It’s basically coronation chicken but I absolutely loved it. Location is also great, plenty of other local food areas. The laundry (gold coin) was another great spot and even delivered it for us when it was ready! Great chill area and I’d 100% recommend this place.

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed! We had a double bed in shared bedroom, the bed was big and incredible spacious. It felt we had our own studio apartment! The staff is super friendly, the food really yummy and fresh, beers as well! We also booked the tours through the hostel which was very handy.

Great place, the room was really cute and comfortable. Everything ultra clean. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and André prepared amazing scrambled eggs for me for breakfast. Location is good, walking distance from the train station and close to likely all places you may want to visit in the city. I wanted to rent a scooter and they directed me to a good and cheap place nearby. Would definitely stay again.

The staff was not always all too clear, giving conflicting information (i.e. return at 9 or at 11 from a tour). The tours advertised that are not above don't seem to have run before, i.e. the cooking class they mentioned they don't have a vendor yet. If you want to eat your own food, I.e. make some noodles, there's not a space.

Good Location near the train station. The pictures here are not so good, in reality the hostel beds have some privacy curtains, and the private rooms not pictured: it's like a small "living area" with steps up to a bed that's up high. There's a restaurant where you can get food that though expensive, is of course very convenient. They organise tours to bromo (500) and waterfalls (400). The bathrooms are only 1 per floor, but it's not so many people on 1 floor so I usually had to wait only 10 mins max.

The dorm beds were so comfortable with charging ports, storing areas, a hanger to dry your towel and space for your bag. Super friendly and helpful staff, comfortable common area and very handy that they serve food and drinks there and organise all kinds of tours.

Quirky rooms with loft style bed. Makes for lots of storage room. Bed extremely comfy. Friendly staff who can help organise any tours as well. Shared bathroom very nice and clean. Great value for money!! Good location with plenty of restaurant options nearby.
