Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaLoved our stay at this hotel. Beautiful location. The room was large with a nice balcony. The bed was very comfortable so could get a good night sleep. The shower had reasonable hot water. We booked a sunrise tour up the volcano through the hotel. The guide was excellent and the views are amazing. The tour also included a soak in the hot springs, a visit to a beautiful waterfall, a replica budist temple and a church.

United KingdomLights from outside were on all night we're very bright and made our bedroom too bright. Darker curtains would have made a difference.
The staff were great and good fun. Also very friendly and helpful. Hotel was ideally situated for the trek up to mount Sibyak volcano. Food was excellent!

CanadaThe cheaper rooms are old and run down, mattress very hard, lots of mosquitos in the room. Newer more comfortable rooms are more than double the price.
Peaceful location outside the town, really beautiful property, friendly family-run business, near Sibayak volcano

AustraliaPlease don’t expect a 5 star hotel experience as the place was built sometime ago in a different era. However, it lacks today’s modern conveniences, does have hot showers, comfy bed and good WiFi.
The family who own this place are amazing, some of the nicest people you will meet in Indonesia. They have so much knowledge of their home town and are willing to share. Plus, their laughs and smiles is something I’ll never forget. Info and map to volcanio was spot on.

LuxembourgWhat an amazing family that greets you in their home - It is so fun with them! If you want to go to Sibayak volcano, it’s a perfect starting point. If you want to rent a scooter - they will get one for you. I personally didn’t mind the cold shower - there are rooms with hot water. The room could use a little refreshment, but good value for the money. And they do prepare amazing food - try to get the passion fruit juice, definitely my favorite! If the weather is good, use their amazing garden for relaxation.

SloveniaThis property was a very nice stay and starting point for Sibayak as well as Sipiso Piso. Our room (particularly bathroom) wasn’t very clean and you could hear everything during evening and night but everything else was amazing! The owners are kind, the food was delicious, they exchanged our money, washed our clothes, booked a guide for the whole day trip (we don’t know his name but he was the best), and organized a transfer. All in all, very nice. Thank you!

FranceBeds and bathrooms are not very comfortable in the cheapest rooms.
The people running the place are very welcoming. With the lovely garden, this is what makes this place so special. They do great avocado salads and pizzas. Remember to as them to replace the ketchup by tomato sauces. You can also order in advance typical Indonesian cuisine. They nicely helped us organise a day visit of all that there is to see in Berastagi.

MalaysiaThe room looks old, decayed, and shabby. The door cannot be locked properly, and the water heater takes time to warm up. It’s not really comfortable being surrounded by a bunch of dogs—they barked and even tried to attack us. Luckily, their owner was around. no hot water or amenities provided.
The surroundings look great, but our room faces their family cemetery

GermanyThe Budget rooms are not clean and do NOT have warm water or a warm shower. This is unacceptable in an area where the temperature is normally below 20°C. They will first show you the dirty, non warm water, budget room, but then come towards you and try to sell you the Premium room, for only a bit more, cheaper then listed on booking.com, which you are basically forced to take, as for most people it is impossible to shower with cold water in an area that regularly drops to 16°C. The Hotel is also quite far away from the city center, and although there apparently are busses coming every 10ish minutes to drive you there, when I was waiting at the bus stop, I had multiple of those busses drive past and not pick me up. The reception/restaurant is also very dirty and full of hundreds of flies, and the food is mediocre.
The Premium room is pretty big, but not very clean. Be prepared to have cockroaches and other flying insects in your room.
