The only consideration is that some guests might find the walk between the accommodation and the entrance a bit challenging. However, even with our 3- and 4-year-old children, we had no issues using the stairs, so it’s absolutely manageable.

The property was truly beautiful and full of charm. The accommodation spans two floors, with the upper level featuring a raised seating area where you can relax together and take in the stunning rice field views. The bedding was excellent, and Joel, along with his family and team, provided exceptional hospitality, making us feel genuinely welcome and well cared for.

Surya Shanti was peaceful with very friendly staff.. the architecture, interior design and landscaping was beautiful and well thought out.. our view from our bed overlooked Mt Agung whilst the view from the front verandah led us down the valley with views in the distance to Bukit Peninsula.. The owner, Joel and staff, went above and beyond to make our stay special including organising treats for my husband’s birthday celebration. This is old fashioned courtesy and service at its best. We know our way back now… Extras: a shuttle service is available to drive you into town, the village is just a short walk away with many choices of warungs. Try Deva an original Warung which is family run. One night we ate at Surya Shanti and we were not disappointed, our meal was served on our private verandah which was romantic . Joel organised a motorbike tour for us which was a lot of fun.. nothing was too much trouble… oh! We also had a bath full of flower petals arranged for us! That was magic… I highly recommend this accommodation as THE PLACE to stay in Sidemen.

Where Where to begin with our experience at this beautiful boutique villa in the stunning valley of Sidemen? From the moment we arrived, the staff took great care of my family, including our two kids. The hotel owner, Joel, personally greeted us and ensured we were comfortable in our spacious room, which had a separate bed perfect for our two little girls. We felt the warmth of French hospitality, clearly fostered by the owners and reflected in the staff at every step—whether it was during dinner, discussing running routes and hiking tips, or even introducing us to a local painter after my wife casually mentioned we were looking for a unique piece of art from our trip. I was warmly welcomed at this beautiful hotel with the most incredible views all around. The room was extremely comfortable and also tastefully decorated. I quickly felt at home in the relaxed atmosphere they have created. Yoga classes every other morning were great too.

If you struggle with mobility you will find the steps to move around the villas challenging, if you don't you'll be absolutely fine. I was with my mum and she just about managed. The slopes do add to the charm though and enable the magnificent view.

The accommodations are very comfortable and designed with good taste. It shows some signs of wear and tear but nothing major.

Food could be better as you are a bit in the middle of nowhere (they did offer a shuttle service apparently, but we weren’t aware until we had already booked a taxi). Room smelt of old wood (not sure if it was they made the welcome home sign with - the flowers as per picture, but it was overpowering) Shower didn’t work well if anyone else was showering at the resort. We didn’t get hot water, but luckily it was quite warm. I don’t think the pictures reflect the room very well - either that or we didn’t get the room we booked. Our toilet was outdoors, which it doesn’t look like online. The room we got was very noisy - we were in between two other apartments with babies in and you could hear them all night as they are not completely sealed units due to them being wood huts with thatched roofing. You had to go and find someone to get drinks, I would suggest they set up a WhatsApp or something so you could order drinks from around the resort, instead of walking around or waiting for someone. It was expensive for low season, when we could have got cheaper in the area for a similar experience. But we did enjoy our stay and particularly liked sidemen.

Pool was amazing and the views from both pools are phenomenal. Would recommend you hire a scooter (grabs not easily available in Sidemen) to explore the area as it is not far from all the main sights in Sidemen. Staff did regular sweeps of your room to check for geckos or bugs etc. due to it being in a tropical environment.

We loved the view from the room and the room itself was beautiful and spacious. The pools were great and the breakfasts were had everyday were amazing! Loved trying all the Balinese sweets. The staff were all so nice and accommodating and went out of their way to arrange things for us like a private yoga class and hiking. We are obsessed with sidemen and can’t wait to come back! We met the owner when we were leaving and he was super friendly and nice.

Really beautiful and peaceful location, very large room. The rice paddy walk with Samson was really interesting. Really good food at the restaurant, and a nice bar area to relax at too. Two swimming pools both with a really nice view.

If you want to go to other restaurants and into town it is a bit of a trek to walk. Although the staff was very nice about it then I felt that the kids were sometimes a bit loud as many of the other guests came for the peace and quiet

The place is amazing! We had a spectacular view from both our villa and from the pools. It was great that there were two different pools. Hours and hours of fun. Rooms are great and feel very private. The rain shower was amazing and open to the sky. The resort is well maintained and lush. The area is beautiful and you feel far from the city. Breakfast was great and the kids absolutely loved the hot chocolate option. We ended up having all of our meals there simply because we enjoyed the resort. I did a cooking class at the resort with my 6-year-old son and was very pleasantly surprised at how sweet the chef was with him. We did lots of dishes and the whole family sat down afterwards for lunch. Recommend!

We loved everything but just be aware there are quite a few steps up to the hotel so might be a struggle for someone with mobility issues.

There were lizards in our room, including big ones that would get in through holes. One of the big ones pooped into the bath tub one night and there is nothing the staff can do about it… it was a little scary to sleep with so many of them in our room

Nothing but be aware that the bathroom is open air (with possible little companions^^) .

The place was fabulous, from the first minute you arrive you feel in a beautiful balinese bubble, surrounded by nature with amasing people, facilities, food. Joel was a great host, welcoming every guest personally, The team is lovely, helpful and arranging, from Before your arrival until your departure. We can only highly recommend a stay in this beautiful and lovely sidemen resort.
