Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesTanjungan felt like one of the few clean, rubbish (plastic) free areas on the island. Thank you Alain for such a welcoming spot. Unfortunately much of Gili Gede isn’t so pristine. It’s a shame. It made me never want to leave our little slice of paradise.
I knew immediately upon arrival that I was going to enjoy my stay at Tanjungan. From the greeting at the dock, to the welcome drink, to our lovely accommodations, everything was smooth, friendly and felt like coming home. Alain, Ita and the ladies were all so genuine and full of giggles. I truly felt like I was amongst old friends. The food was probably the best part of my stay, that cheese plate!!!! Just go- relax and enjoy!

NetherlandsIt’s good to know that the rooms are not closed. There big open spaces where wildlife (mostly lizards) can come in. There a mosquito net for the mosquitoes, but you’ll have to accept the lizards. They don’t do any harm, but it might take some getting used to. Also because of the open spaces, there no AC. It cools down at night to a relatively comfortable temperature. Also there’s no warm shower and the shower itself isn’t much, but it does the job.
The hotel is located on a remote part of the island, so it was very quiet. Just what we needed. The rooms are cozy. You really get the island vibe here. I’d say the best thing about the hotel is the kitchen. The fresh/asian fusion menu is all you could want. Everything we had exceeded our expectations! Alain and his staff do an amazing job! The staff is very friendly and helpful. They make sure your stay is as wonderful as possible. The island itself wasn’t very special to us. There’s not much to do, but if your goal is to really relax, this place is what you need. We did go on a lovely boat trip to snorkel. That was beautiful. The coral and the sea life were better than other places I’ve been. I would definitely recommend staying here for a few days.

CanadaI thought there would be snorkeling directly out in front of the hotel and there was no water access. You could walk a path to a beach though. Food is a bit pricy but that is to expected since everything has to boated in. His cocktail selection is amazing
I thought the whole setting reminded of a TV show Gilligan's Island from my childhood. It was charming and covered all of my needs. Alian's staff are so sweet. Please note that there are alot of stairs and could be a challenge if you have any mobility issues

United KingdomIt was lovely but not really ideal for a small child as there were many stairs with vertical drops off the side. We loved it anyway and just had to be careful with the child.
The location was beautiful. The rooms spacious and comfortable, and the food was very good, dinner and breakfast. The pool was very refreshing.

NetherlandsWe had a bad start. No warm welcome or explanation how things work. We received a drink but there was no communication. So that felt a bit awkward. The rooms have no lock or key so do not leave your valuables there but ask the owner to put it in a safe. And I am sad to say, but our rooms were really very dirty. They do not clean well. No changing of the bins, a lot of dust which has been there for ages specially on the fans. The place is set up with great care but feels neglected after a while and that is a pity because it is a lovely accommodation overall.
Gili Gede is still one of the most natural and original islands. Without big resorts. But we saw that this can change quickly because they start building. Tanjungan is a quiet place with a terrific kitchen. People from other hotels come here to eat. The prices are good. There are a few houses with a fan and a small ventilator which are spacious with a big terras before the room where you can sit, drink some tea or coffee and relax. The pool is small but with a nice view. The atmosphere is very relaxed. Freedom is the buzz word. They offer snorkeling trips which are very much recommanded. You can also ask for a boat to bring you to another island for the beaches where you also can do some snorkeling. Gili Asahan is wonderful for this. We enjoyed our stay here very much. It is not a high fancy place so if you want that you should go somewhere else.

United KingdomIf you're a light sleeper I'd recommend ear plugs! 🐓
Alain and Ita have created a small slice of paradise on Gili Gede. The hospitality was amazing, from being met off the boat with big smiles to the incredible cooking (seriously recommend the grilled fish Indonesian style) the spices and seasoning were fantastic on all the dishes we had, hands down the best food we've had in Indonesia. The bungalows, terraces and pool are beautifully crafted. Thanks for a magical stay Alain!

New ZealandThe mosque is rather loud and it can get muggy in the evenings but hey, we inew that and to switch off, relax, refresh in the pool, snorkel around and chat to Alain whilst playing uno and feeling sand under foot is not a bad way to meet new friends!
Great views and a labour of love for the owners who have almost hand crafted the villa’s into the mountain itself. Alot of greenery and its all true about the food. We woke up hanging out for dinner and after a week we had tried most of it! Oh, and there is an outdoor eco gym a short walk away by the marina.

SingaporeWe had two rooms. The fan in one of these was not as powerful and the mosquito nets are thick so it was quite warm at night. This wasn’t a problem at all in the second room so luck of the drawer!
The staff are wonderful. The location is beautiful and offers a great opportunity to walk around the island see island life. Alain is keen to offer a fairly priced and high quality experience and be succeeds.

AustraliaThe shower and bathroom need a bit of maintenance.
Our stay was excellent. The food was delicious. The people were the best. You can feel the love and kindness in this accommodation. Allan is making a huge effort to keep his access to the sea as clean as possible and he collects rubbish that is washed out from the mainland. I like cooking and they even gave me a cooking class in their own kitchen. I had the most memorable stay so far and I would certainly stay there again.
