Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaIts an older traditional Balinese building so cooling down the rooms is a bit of a challenge. The air-conditioning does a pretty good job, but not cool like a modern hotel.
Stunning location on the beach. Snorkelling at high tide is possible but tricky at low tide.

GermanyRoosters, dogs, street noise…because of the thin wooden construction you can basically hear everything that happens outside. Also not dark in the rooms once the sun rises. Not much privacy because people coming constantly to the ground to sell something or asking for money. Breakfast rather simple.
Great looking traditional „huts“ with outdoor bathroom. Located directly at the sea (bigger stones there). Area not that busy. Very friendly staff!!

First of all the staff.. Nyoman and Made and Ketut made this place extra special. Their humour and their kindness and hospitality was amazing and made the best breakfast ever. Will always remember them and hope to meet again. Felt like family. The villas were rustic and traditional and lovely outdoor bathrooms in some. Huge pools in both and we loved the 3 BR and 5 BR for different reasons. Felt sooo lucky to stay an extra 5 days in larger villa. Definitely coming back

AustraliaThere is not one thing we would change. Everything was perfect. Don't change a thing!
What a wonderful holiday our family of nine had at The Kampung. From the moment we arrived we felt very welcomed and cared for. Ketut and all the staff were second to none. From the beautiful fresh cooked breakfast in the morning, to the booking of tours, motorbikes or anything else we needed, this was our best family holiday ever. We will be back again, because one week was nowhere near enough!!

It was my second time in 6 years and they didn't disappoint. Celebrated my 60th birthday with a group of friends. Had an amazing time. The staff is just super amazing at this beautiful place. Excellent breakfast every morning. They also arranged for snorkeling trips and massages, all really good and well priced. Will highly recommend.

FranceBreakfast is the real weak point. Only two options to choose from, eggs with bad quality bread, or good pancakes, but that’s it. After a few days we were tired of it. The diner option are not great either. There’s a kitchen but it’s dirty, thankfully there’s a lot of very good restaurants around to eat well. The house is very nice but super dark, very difficult to see inside, this can be easily fixed with good lighting.
Great location on the beach, very beautiful set up, nice swimming pool, comfortable beds. The house entirely wooden has a cool old school feel, seems pretty clean (except for the kitchen) and each room has its own bathroom. There’s coral reef accessible from the beach directly which is great for snorkeling.

Firstly, the location was just perfect. The kampung villa was just an amazing, lovely view. the only thing is that sometimes you might want privacy, and people trying will come to sell stuff. The staff, especially Tan Tan and Aunty Wayan, were so good, very welcoming, and very helpful, Tan Tan was always available to help no matter what time, Tan and Aunty Wayan made lovely breakfast every morning and recommended a brilliant halal restaurant who also did deliveries for us. 10/10, thank you so much Tan Tan. We will be back

AustraliaIt is like walking onto a movie set. The individual kampung style rooms are the essence of bali village style, comfortable with a incredible views no matter where you sat. The generously sized pool and dining/lounging pavilion were icing on the cake. We had a wonderful stay and staff are amazing, generous and friendly in true Balinese fashion. We as three friends found it perfect to be together and to be alone.

United StatesWe loved everything, but if you are not a nature lover, not able to deal with creepy critters, and afraid of remote areas, The Kampung might not be your flavor. One needs a motorcycle to get around in Amed. If you are not comfortable on scooters, Amed is not the place to learn. The roads can be extremely dangerous. Thankfully, Ketut and her staff can arrange transport for you anywhere you need to go. Amed is three hours from Denpasar Airport. Sometimes that can turn into four hours depending on the day of the week and time of year. There are small clinics in the Amed area, but no major hospitals. The roads to and from are windy and highly trafficked by construction trucks. These are not necessarily things that we did not like, but many people may not be aware of the remoteness of this area.
We loved the nostalgic old wooden kampung house, the beautiful pool, the sea views and the staff! We also loved that the Kampung is surrounded by rice paddies. Having breakfast every morning on the large patio while sipping coffee and watching the ocean was a great way to start our day. Private massage can be arranged on the pool deck and evening BBQ's are available at a reasonable extra cost. Arranging transportation was very easy and Ketut and the rest of the staff are lovely and attentive. Water pressure is a big bonus and beds have mozzie nets. The AC is also outstanding. There is an Aldi's down the road (within walking distance) where they sell lots of expat provisions (ie wine, yogurt, jams, fresh baked breads, etc). There are smaller local shops nearby as well.
