Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United KingdomNOTHING. It’s perfect.
BOOK THIS HOSTEL. I cannot recommend a place more. The staff, the vibe, the design, the cleanliness. I felt like part of the family. It’s literally 4 star hotel quality. It’s out of town perched on a hilltop and this makes it all the more special. I’

SwedenThe best hostel I’ve ever been to. I saw people writing this in their reviews and it is just so true. The layout and the pool is amazing, the food is super good, beds are comfy, but what really makes this hostel special is the people. Josh, Jordi and Sam did a great job creating a very welcoming atmosphere here. All travellers live together like a family here and have a good time together. You can explore the beautiful island on a scooter in the morning, and then go back to Penida Project to hang out with everyone. They also have 2 dogs, one of them a puppy. So adorable! If you visit Nusa Penida, you HAVE to come here :)

GermanyThere is nothing to dislike at this place, everything is amazing!
Property is completely new, everything looks amazing and works perfectly fine. You can really see all the love the staff has invested into literally everything. The rooms are always super clean, and despite staying in a 10 people dorm, it was always very quiet due to the concept of the little sleeping cabins in the wall. They have great food (especially the pizza🥰) and the drinks are simply lovely! The staff is always, and I mean it, always super kind and try their absolute best to fulfill whatever wish you have. You can really see that they love what they are doing and that they are driven by the satisfaction of the people staying there. I loved my stay there and extended twice, despite I initially had other plans, simply because the staff, the place and the vibe were absolutely fabulous!

Best hostel I’ve stayed in during my 6 month tour of Southeast Asia. It’s brand new and everything about it is top notch. Josh and Sam have done a great job and this is truly a hostel you could stay at for a few days without wanting to leave the site. However, they are great at arranging any trips that you may want to do. Nice pool, great dorms, clean bathrooms. Food is fantastic and there’s a great, social vibe. The pool table is ace and the puppy is adorable. 100% recommend.

Not to forget to mention that the food they serve is amazing. Highly recommend the Penida Project if you're on Nusa Penida.

IndiaAmazing place and amazing hosts. Joshua and his family are exceptional in hospitality and will make sure you have an amazing stay. The property itself is big and beautiful. Large pool, big dorms and comfy beds, big and clean washrooms, lots of area to socialise and play games. And food here is amazing as well. I'd say the best hostel in the whole of Nusa Penida!

AustraliaThe road leading into the hostel could do with some TLC, but that's not within the control of this facility.
The food and beverages were phenomenal. The staff always had a sense of pride and joy about their role within the team. It was a buzzing atmosphere with cleanliness and presentation I've not experienced in any hostel I've stayed at prior. There's plenty to do at the hostel, and the beach and shops are only a 5-10 minute trip. One of the best kept secrets on Nusa Penida!

AustraliaThe road in, in parts needs attention but it’s serviceable with work slowly beginning.
Comfortable pods surprisingly big, great height, very private with comfortable mattress and pillows. Your own ledge, light & power sockets in the pod. Excellent Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Large pool, lots of sun and shade. A brilliant breeze runs through the properly so it’s very comfortable after traveling around the island. The food was delicious, especially the chicken dumplings, not forgetting the cocktails.

AustraliaThe team were still waiting on the Eftpos machine so I had to pay cash. But they said it will be in soon. Other than that couldn't fault it, amazing hostel.
What a great place! I loved having a comfortable mattress in a roomy capsule. It gave me some much needed privacy after backpacking for so long. The drinks and food were insane. The chicken dumplings were the best I've ever had. Pizza was elite! I don't normally drink tiki drinks, but the Lost Paradise made me change my mind. Such a gem :)

AustraliaI absolutely loved this place! Easily the best hostel on the island. The facilities are super modern and clean. The beds are comfortable and with the curtain it makes it super private which is ideal for sleeping. The pool is awesome and the floating beanbag will call your name as soon as you get there with one of the frozen strawberry daiquiris !! I forgot my wall adapter but they have USB plugs by the bed which was a win as well. The food is delish, the best pizza I’ve had in ages. I didn’t have one meal I didn’t like. The cocktails are also dangerously delicious and affordable. All the staff here also go above and beyond to make sure you’re enjoying your stay and will help you with renting scooters and booking tours etc I’ll definitely be staying here again!

AustraliaI heard about The Penida Project from some friends and thought I’d check it out. Josh and the team are such great hosts. My favourite thing about the hostel is the food! The chicken burger is the best meal I had on my month of travels. The pool, pool table and bball court made for a fun time. The sleeping nods were comfortable, air conditioned and private. FranceHonestly nothing to complain about!
Amenities are truly amazing with a beautiful swimming pool nestled in the jungle and DJ set-up playing some fine tunes. I was really impressed with the food and cocktails quality, best pizza and dumplings I had in a long time. I tried their speciality cocktail The Lost Paradise that tasted like heaven, I could drink that all day long! The capsule beds really make you feel like you have your own little room, equipped with international adaptors and small light, super comfy mattress, pillow and beddings, greatest sleep of my trip so far. The team is super friendly and go out of their way to help me find everything I needed to make my stay memorable. I couldn't recommend more!

AustraliaThe location is a little off the beaten track but IMO this makes it feel like a private oasis, perfect after a big day of touring the island. They organised scooters for us as well so we could easily zip down to the main drag in under 10 mins.
Best hostel facilities I've ever seen! Pool is like a resort pool, plus there's heaps of bean bags and decking area around it to sun bake and chill. You get your own capsule bed with international power point and reading light, mattresses/pillows very comfortable. They feel really private. The food and cocktails are epic - must try the pizzas, chicken burger, and frozen mango & chipotle daiquiri.

TaiwanI was there when the hostel having their one year anniversary. I was not totally statisfied with the condition of the shower room. Some of the shelf in the shower room was broken, so i could hardly hang my clean clothes when i showering. I need to be naked and then walked out the shower room and started to wear my clothes. More, some of the shower room was easily flood when showering. And some of customers left some weared clothes in the bench in the shower room which smelled bad... Others, the hostel is good for those who are solo travelling and made friends there.
