Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

As with most party hostels, it may get loud and the dorms quite messy
Nice party hostel with a bar and staff worth going to even if you're not sleeping there.

Everything! The vibes, workers & the people made it for me, best hostel I’ve stayed in my 3 months travelling SE Asia! They are so friendly there, it’s great craic & you will meet so many other solo travellers there! Whilst the beds are still comfortable with a curtain & everyone was very respectful of others!

The rain was so heavy when we arrived that it leaked through the roof in our dorm but the staff were quick to fix it
Felt instantly welcome when we arrived. Such a great atmosphere to the place and in an ideal location. Rooms were clean and the shower was fantastic. The dog tipsy was so cute too

Great people. Great staff, awesome vibe. Clean rooms, much space in your bunk bed Shuts down bar and music at 11 so you can have a good sleep if you need to. Just move on to the Bars and clubs that are near

The fact that i’m not able to live here forever! Not a thing bad about the Tipsy Gypsy
I came back just to see the amazing staff and experience the feeling of friends and family once again while traveling. This place is a rare commodity that attracts only the best people and leaves a long lasting impression! Was only going to stay for one night on my second visit here, ended up being 4 because you never actually want to leave. The absolute friendliest staff i’ve ever encountered in my life who will go above and beyond to not only make you comfortable but to be life long friends with you. Cleanest rooms that you’ll find in indonesia, great food available around the clock within 5 minute walks, and a party that will be the time of your life. Every night starts at the Tipsy Gypsy (the best part) and then the WHOLE hostel goes out together to the great club life in Canggu. Cannot say enough about this place, good luck not falling in love with Saki.

it was so easy to make friends and go out together! the staff makes sure you're never alone. In less then 10 minutes you can walk everywhere, beach, party, restaurants, it's basically the prime center location but in a quiet gang. it is a party place but they close strictly down by 11pm. I loved it and will definitely be back later in this trip! love you guys and more you already

Genuinely don't have any cons
promised Saki an 11/10 rating. unfortunately Booking didn't let me do it. But are stay was absolutely amazing! Nice location, good airco, clean, but the main reason to come here: the people! it is quite small scaled, winch gives it a nice atmosphere. Everyone was so friendly. But I wanna give a special so Saki and Yuki. They were not only really friendly and helpful, they were also especially so good at connecting the group and to have fun with. 1000% recommended!
