Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaOlder people may have difficulty with the gradient and stairs in moving about the hotel. Staff require better training as to being proactive in the restaurant - removing plates, asking if you would like tea/coffee, basic stuff in my view. Our room was poorly lit in the bathroom and the bathroom was in need of renovation. We were also missing some basic stuff like hand towels and face washers but overall, given its a 3 star hotel, these were minor inconveniences. The pool also need a bit of sprucing up.
Historically significant building with spectacular views of the mountains and river. The setting for the hotel is breathtaking.

AustraliaA little worn down, but renovations underway. A lot of noise from next door room, so thin walls I guess.
Beautiful property from another era. Fascinating look and feel with lots of twists and turns (steps!) Only 10-15 minutes walk from town. Great breakfast and stunning views over the valley.

AustraliaI didn’t mind them but those who find steps difficult might not cope as the hotel is located on a range of levels. The noise from the road in the foyer is a little intrusive but can’t be heard below in the rooms and the pools.
The hotel is in the traditional Bali style being one of the oldest hotels in Bali. The rooms have been recently upgraded and everything works really well. I loved the spa and the hot and cold pools in the beautifully decorated cave. The food is beautiful. The natural spring pool is a treat and the staff are all very friendly and helpful.

AustraliaThe main pool still has broken tiles, we first stayed at this hotel 35 years ago and the main pool had broken tiles then and we again stayed in 2015 and still broken tiles in the main pool, i even cut my foot on that trip. it seems that management isn't concerned about fixing this problem, which is a shame.
The Hotel is well located and easy walk to the town, local cafes, temples etc

RomaniaYou could really use a better maintenance of this place. The pool is in need of remake, the ponds also should be better arranged and also, you could use some insecticide treatment for the plants. There were mosquitoes. But overall, it was a good experience for the money we paid. Oh, and also a better equipped pool bar. Would be nice to have some fruit juices, coconuts, ice cream by the pool.
Super nice staff! The employers are really nice, do their jobs well:from reception to cleaning to kitchen to spa, the service is top. The location is nice. They have a really beautiful view towards the temple and the forest. The design of the hotel is top: very green and a lot of stone sculptures that give this place a mistique air. The SPA is just wow. Even though they have a lot of rooms it felt really intimate and not at all crowded. The breakfast was good. The rooms were good enough, big and clean. The furniture a bit old but it wasn't a problem. The location is great for exploration. Such a nice and quiet place, but also close to the busy area in Ubud and the ridge walk.

AustraliaMy only negative would be the musty smell in the room.
This place is so tranquil. The staff were amazing. The food was very tasty. The location is a short walk into Ubud market shopping town. We had rain and some stomes, but that made the resort more mystical and lush. The stairs to and from the rooms can be challenging. I'd definitely come back.

AustraliaRooms down the bottom of the property are a little dated, decor-wise. But looks as though a renovation program is in place
This place has such a gracious history of welcoming international travellers and showing them the sophistication and beauty of Balinese culture. Long may it continue. Stunning art is dotted around the property, which stretches up and down a tropical hillside, flanked by the sacred Tjampuhan River. As my room was down by the river I was lulled to sleep by the sound of its rushing waters, and got lots of exercise walking up and down the steps. This location gives great access to the centre of Ubud without its hectic vibe. The breakfast buffet is spectacular, with super attentive staff and such a choice of foods. To the reviewer who complained about 'no bacon' 🙄 you've come to a gorgeous country, why not open your mind and try something new? Like the special Balinese treats? The omelette cooked fresh for you? The pool is a beautiful spot, with charming carvings. The spa is amazing, I had a superb 90 minute Balinese massage by the river. Final special shout-out to head of the cleaning team for my room - Surat(?spelling) who was so warm and friendly. I wish he was my uncle.

AustraliaWas not a fan, would not stay here again . Location not the best to far out from all the shopping and night life. Staff not the greatest, had to ask several times for things , like towels . So many bugs flying around . Way to many steps to climb to get in and out of room , to get to main foyer. Quite dangerous when it’s raining. Menu could have been better for breakfast. It lacked atmosphere.

United StatesThe stairs. Part of the charm was the feeling of antiquity: but there are a lot of stairs to climb to go anywhere, to the dining, room, pool, lobby or anywhere. At night there was little light on the stairs.
The gardens and surrounding jungle area was beautiful. The staff was excellent. The fresh flowers outside our rooms were lovely. The breakfast offerings were varied and delicious.

AustraliaThe bathroom on the upper floor has no ventilation. The rooms are not sealed very well, it can get a little humid, but it looks many hotels are the same in this case.
The staff are all very helpful and especially Sudira who help us booked the scooter and activities easily. The facilities are good, hot spa, very big yard and greens, jungle view is amazing from my room.
