I thoroughly loved my time at Ubad Retreat. It was exactly what I was looking for; quiet (being 3km outside Ubud centre) and the opportunity to be immersed in Balinese culture. I was blown away by the community and heart of the local village. Gus, and his staff, are fantastic. It really does feel like a family. All services and amenities are great, including a shuttle service into Ubud, running four times a day. Gus assisted with helping me source activities and advised places I can visit in Bali based on my personality and personal interests. A total gem of a place, I will definitely stay again.

Everything was perfect. Staff was so insanely nice that you feel more as if you have come to visit your relatives then staying in a hotel for the first time. Rooms were cozy and very clean, both pools are quite small but great. Gus is the one who can help with everything - advises, taxi order, organizing sightseeing and etc. Thanks you, guys, once again! 🙏🏻

Prefect place to stay if you want to explore something else, have a nice calm and beautiful stay sorrounded by gardens and lush areas.

PolandThe best accommodation we had on Bali. It felt very unique and had a fair price. There are 2 pools free to use, one at a more sunny spot the other little more shadowed which gives you a nice choice. The room itself was satisfactory. The bathroom was very nice, the bed comfortable, there was a mosquito net however no animals came into our room. Nothing lacked. The breakfast is amazing and there is a nice variety of sweet and salty dishes. The staff is super helpful and very kind. There are many workers all day. It was clean all around the accommodation. The hotel even offered a free shuttle to the city centre for free 4 times a day. I can’t complain about anything

United KingdomIncluded breakfast was OK, simple and small portions by us Westerners excessive standards, but tasty enough. They don't like you using Grab/Bluebird as it's technically not permitted in this part of Ubud, so prepare to feel a bit awkward if you do use them, which I did. My opinion is that positive modernisation is to be embraced, not feared. Locals could still make good business under their stewardship. But I admit as a visitor it is also fair to respect the local culture and as they were not pushy about it I have no complaints.
The location is rural and away from traffic noise. It is 10 minutes taxi to the centre of town. A little pricey for what you get, but the facilities are clean and well maintained and while there were a few ants, I had no issues with bugs during my November stay. Nice bathroom and comfortable bed. Pool could be more enticing but it was clean. Friendly staff who gladly accommodated my late night arrival. Family run bar on site but I didn't use it as I preferred to go into Ubud town for my evening's entertainment.

AustraliaThe taxi drivers harassed the driver we hired. I totally understand why the village wants us to use local taxis but they charge nearly 4x more than a hired driver so as a tourist it does not make economic sense
