Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FranceNothing to do with the Villa.... just be aware that Ubud is very busy at certain times of the day. It took 45 minutes in a taxi to get back to the villa on one occasion .
The villa is a little way outside of Ubud. This suited us as we were away from the busy town centre. You need taxis to and from the villa , or I guess arrange alternative transport. Likewise, you will probably need to order in food from Grab or similar as it's too far out to pop to the shops. The owner and staff were very accommodating and provided a lovely breakfast every morning. We used both bedrooms. They were fine. No particular problems. The communal areas are all outside. For instance, where breakfast is served. This was fine for us. The gardens are very pretty and well maintained. Overall we enjoyed our stay and thanks to the owner and his staff that made our new year special Ubud itself is busy. Some of the restaurants were extremely good and there are endless options for shopping

Beds were comfortable and the bathroom & shower room was exceptional. Far enough from the hustle and bustle so was very peaceful and quiet but close enough to enjoy Ubud itself. Putu and his team went out of their way to show us around ubud & will come back every time we come to Bali.

AustraliaIf you were hoping for a bath that would not have been possible in my room as the depressing plug didn't work. The bath was an older style which did not look inviting. My friend was concerned that her bath did not look clean but we think it was simple staining from age. If you were unsteady on your feet, the shower situation could be tricky as you need to be able to stand on flat rock stepping stones in the shower. None of these things detracted from our enjoyment of Villa Alam Surya and we would return!
Although we arrived very late at night, Putu was there to meet us with a fresh coconut drink and some delicious fruit. After the throng of traffic coming from the airport, all we could hear were the sounds of nature and the creek flowing past. It is so quiet there. We were amazed we had the entire villa compound to ourselves. There are no other guests sharing any part of the property so it felt very private and indulgent. We loved that Rosie or Ellie would arrive each morning to cook us whatever we wanted for breakfast and we could have a masseur come to the villa every day if we liked. Putu was highly responsive to our WhatsApp messages, organising drivers, massages, our breakfast orders or answering any other questions. The entire team were so friendly and helpful. They provided gluten free food as needed and even indulged me with a birthday cake on my birthday! It was perfect for 2 friends travelling together having our own bathrooms and bedrooms, coming together at a dining table. Neither of us have stayed in a private villa before but would definitely return to Villa Alam Surya. Thank you Putu and team :)

SwitzerlandIt ran out of warm water in the Showers in both Room quite quickly. But we survived it. :)
The Villa is placed in the Jungle, it‘s peaceful and quiet, and on the other side, it‘s very close to Ubud City Center and easily reached by Grab/Gojek. The nature around the Villa is stunning and the Villa itself is tastefully decorated, and also very very clean. The breakfast was a delight! The personal was 10/10. We loved every minute spent in the Villa. The Balinese Massage that Mr. Putu organized for us was also a delight. The beds are very comfy, the outdoor bed also. Pool was every day perfectly clean.

NetherlandsThe most beautiful place we ever stayed at! We had a wonderful time here, outside the touristy craziness of Ubud, but still close enough to see all the sites and go there for dinner. We went on a very nice day tour with Putu, the owner of the villa. In the morning Wayan and Tini made wonderful breakfasts, we especially loved the dadar gulung and all the fresh fruit.

I had a wonderful stay at this villa. This is a gorgeous villa and it is more scenic in person. Putu took care of me from arrival till I left. He is such a good guy. He arranged for my tour and was my personal guide. Tinny who served me breakfast was also wonderful. They treat you like family. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely visit again.

Amazing location next to the river, peace and quiet all around. It was incredible that me and my mom had all this big villa only for us. If you really want the authentic taste of Bali, this accommodation is for you. The breakfast was so delicious and healthy and the staff really went above and beyond to make us happy and comfortable. Our own swimming pool was an extra point as well. Really perfection!!

NetherlandsNothing. Previous mentions of distance to Ubud center were no issue for us. Gojek/grab work fast&easy and are cheap. One thing to note for parents with kids : the bedrooms are not connected inside (we used baby monitor with no issues).
Extraordinary welcome reception. Felt like home away from home from the first day. Attention to detail from all staff. The lovely garden. Great breakfast with specific attention to new products, fruits and favorites. Overall an example of excellent hospitality. We loved the place, my kids (3 and 4 years old) did too and the staff took great care of them too. We stayed for nearly 2 weeks and this place absolutely made it one of the best parts of our travels in Bali. Thank you again Putu, Tini, Elin, Wayan and Made!!!

New ZealandNothing - but just that the location is such that nothing is walking distance if we wanted to get coffee in the morning or lunch. We had to get GoCar to go toward the city. But this is not a negative, the villa itself and the services at superb!! Loved it.
Excellent staff, the manager Putu was such a gracious host and provided everything, organised in-house massage for me whenever I asked. Whatever we requested, we got. Tinni made the best breakfast with fresh juices each morning at a time of our preference. These two made our trip great. Our laundry was picked up and delivered back- rooms cleaned and everything was provided. We could not have asked for anything more. Highly recommend you stay here. Villa is beautiful, outdoor showers are excellent and the pool is super clean. No issues at all.Beautful temple right next door. 5/5 stars

EstoniaAs we happened to visit during rain period then we did not get correct climate in place in the rooms and the humidity got quite high so the bed clothes had absorbed some dampness.
Very quiet and private villa surrounded by beautiful nature. Practical layout and many different places to just relax and hang around. The villa was super clean, the pool was with great size and staff very helpful. Special thanks to the lady who prepared wonderful breakfast every day. NetherlandsEverything! The beautiful location, the beautiful garden and pool, the super kind and helpful staff, the massages, the peace, the house and comfy bed, the beautiful and delicious breakfasts. Amazing surrounding, local vibe and lovely short walk to the nearby temple and ricefields. The view from the garden is just amazing. Rooms are beautiful and very comfy beds. Very clean! The staff helped us with everything we wished for and more and we had nice conversations. From massages, to laundry, to delicious breakfasts, food delivery, tips and more. Easy communication via WhatsApp and in person. They gave us a very warm welcome in person. The pictures online are so beautiful but imagine that in real life it is even better. This is a place that we hope to visit again some day, the experience is cherished in our hearts. Highly highly highly recommend this to others. Safe and beautiful location in Ubud, peaceful and easy to discover the city with a driver/guide but also good location to go to further places for daytrips with a driver/guide. We stayed for 5 nights but could easily have stayed longer. Very grateful for this experience. Terimakasih!

AustraliaThe property could do with some updating. The ceiling fan in the kitchen /dining area didn’t work very well. The AC in one of the bedrooms didn’t work very well. It would be good to have ceiling fans in the veranda/ sitting area outside the bedrooms. The toilet flush and showers need updating.
Breakfast was superb! Loved the fruits and delicious banana pancakes. Tina is a brilliant cook. The host was very welcoming. The garden was well maintained and the pool was lovely. The location was quiet and peaceful but can feel isolated from restaurants and cafes.
