Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The most unique tropical and true surrounding if Bali. Peaceful and calming. The dinner was exceptional traditional Balinese food, can't fault it.

AustraliaNot a problem, but just for information. You are in a rural area, so dogs barking and roosters crowing is to be expected. The sounds of nature are all around.
Patrick, the host is welcoming and engaging with guests. He showed me the wonderful natural food jungle surrounding the villa, and explained the production of the local palm alcohol. Patrick and his staff genuinely enjoy assisting and communicating with their guests. The French crepes and local fruits for breakfast are delicious. And dinner at the Villa is always delicious. I was without my own transport, so Patrick helped me organise day trips to the waterfalls and lake batur, and to another village where craftsmen make the instruments for gamellan performances. There's also plenty of opportunities to relax by the pool or have a wonderfully relaxing massage from the masseuse who attends the Villa on request. The local village is a pleasant 20 -30 minute walk, depending on the route. The local villagers are friendly and helpful. There are not many tourists in this area yet...enjoy it while you can! I spent 3.5 weeks at Villa Markisa and will be back again. The bed and pillows are the most comfortable I've experienced in my 5 months in Bali. I had the double room with fan, no aircon and it was perfect for temperature control and ventilation. The triple rooms have air-conditioning. I was also doing a lot of online study and the wifi was fast and reliable.

United KingdomThe only thing we could think of was adding a bath mat into the bathroom. Otherwise, absolutely nothing!
Stunning location, really comfortable room, clean and smelt great. Isolated area that makes you feel like you’re in real traditional rural Bali. Patrick was charming, and answered all our questions. We ate at the Villa in the evenings and the food was delicious! We were able to rent mopeds, and get help with attaining a guide to visit Fiji waterfall and the waterslide. We were also assisted with booking transport to Villa Markisa and onto our next location. It was fantastic value for money, and would definitely stay again! Thank you!!

FranceI recently stayed at one of Patrick’s rooms and had an exceptional experience. The room was comfortable and well-equipped with everything we needed. The hospitality was impeccable—Patrick is a wonderful host who is always ready to assist with any questions you might have. I highly recommend this destination for anyone looking to discover an authentic Bali experience. Patrick’s home is nestled in a beautiful small valley, offering stunning views at sunrise. If you want to experience the true essence of Bali, this is the place to be.

SpainAfter +20 years of travel experience as independent traveler and +15 years experience as hotel manager, this is doubtless one of the best accomodations I have ever been to. I mainly would highlight the professionality of Patrick, the person in charge, truly focused on guest satisfaction. The place has it all, the standard of service, cleanliness, maintenance, gardening, activities, room comfort, remote working facilities, food, breakfast is just unbeatable, hard to find not only in Bali, but anywhere in the world for these rates. I know how hard you have to work to keep it up, so I just must show my respect and say "Congratulations Villa Markisa Pakisan team"

The breakfast was great. The owner gave us some of the markisa/passion fruit that grows on the property as well as the homemade jam they make. Theres some nice hiking close by towards the mountains and a few huge trees.

BelgiumLiterally nothing! All was perfect.
We originally booked for 7 nights, but we keep extending our stay here. We will sty for 25 days in total. The Guest House feels like home, it has 3 rooms in total, which is perfect. The location is perfect – We have been in Bali for 6 months and this is our favorite place so far. The villa and surroundings are so beautiful, surrounded by mountains, rice fields, rivers and waterfalls. There are shops & restaurants in the village, just 1 km away. The villa is close to some of Bali's most beautiful waterfalls: Sekumpul Waterfall, Fushi Waterfall, & he waterslide. There is also a beautiful hiking trail around the villa, which we have walked several times. The food is delicious: Both breakfast and dinner. Every morning and evening, you can choose to eat in the villa, which we have done every day so far. The food is made with fresh ingredients and generous portions. Breakfast includes bread, fresh pancakes, and homemade jam from different fruits. Lots of fruit. Coffee, tea, juice,.. Sometimes yogurt, bread, eggs,... Dinner is amazing (!always ends with a homemade dessert, such as passion fruit, mango, coconut, and dragon fruit ice creams, as well as chocolate cakes and more. They often surprise you with something extra to taste, like local fruits, snacks, or other treats he picks up at the local market. The pool is great and the garden is beautiful, with plants and flowers, and everything is very well maintained. The rooms are clean and spacious, have good beds, furniture in good condition and plenty of storage space. Also good bathroom: shower has hot water with good water pressure. All listed facilities are available & functioned perfectly: fast WiFi, fully equipped kitchen, scooter rental, laundry service, massages, local guides, and free water, coffee, and tea all day. A must-do: The owners are partner with an association supporting Indonesian children's education. You can visit the association.

NetherlandsVilla Markisa Pakistan is a great place to enjoy the quiet of a rural mountain village. It's surrounding is beautiful, and the nature is all around you. With a motor bike you can come everywhere, and for longer distances you can hire easily a car with driver. The villa is designed in a modern style, and offers you all the comfort you can wish for. Patrick, the French owner is a perfect host, always willing to help you with everything. Dinner and breakfast are great. As mentioned before: the Villa is a wonderful place to be, for shorter or somewhat longer time.

United Kingdom- The room we selected did not have air conditioning which we were not aware of when booking. There is however a fan and as the location is quite high up in the mountains, the temperature is quite mild. -As we were situated in the room close to the front of the property, there is some natural noise in the morning.
We were pleasantly surprised! It is a remote location, with the most beautiful surrounding views. The hospitality we received from Patrick and his team was just impeccable and the optional meals provided are so incredibly delicious! Considering the remoteness of the location, I would definitely opt in for dinner at the hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer.

I am incredibly delighted to have discovered this wonderful villa in the north of Bali. At first, it was the villa that drew me in, but I soon found true friends and a family there. The incredible atmosphere created by the owner, the charming Frenchman Patrick, is something out of a dream. Traveling solo, my aim was to immerse myself in the culture, nature, and ultimately, to find myself. This place offered exactly what I was searching for. Everything about the villa was perfect – the breakfasts, cleanliness, comfort, coziness, and relaxation (you can order a massage at any time). Patrick can arrange anything you wish for, just ask. Special thanks to him and the guide Wayan. I am thrilled and highly recommend this villa to all travelers, especially families. You’re in for a wonderful surprise.

NetherlandsThe water wasn't very hot but its okay, everything else definitely made the stay wonderful
It is located in a small local indonesian village. The villa is the only place for tourists to stay there overnight. Restaurants are not nearby but you don't need them because the staff cooks dinner every night. They serve delicious local dishes (coming from someone who is picky) and they serve normal breakfast with a local side dish. The location is very quiet and peaceful, perfect if you want a break. They offer tours about and around the area with a local guide, and there are some nice waterfalls nearby. If you're heading to the North of Bali, I would definitely recommend spending a night or two here!!!
