Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Definitely one of or maybe even the most wonderful stay for me in Bali. The staff is so friendly, responsive and helpful. The food in the own restaurant is very delicious and it is such a calming and relaxing atmosphere. If you enjoy the quiet and do not need too much action (beach is close good for surfing) it is perfect.

We are so glad we stayed here! Yama is beautifully designed and no small detail is left unthought of. Balian Beach is a 5 minute walk away and the perfect place to watch the sunset, the area has a lovely community feel and is unspoilt. We were excited to wake up here everyday. We will miss our daily morning yoga classes with wonderful yoga instructor Cristina, which was always followed by delicious coffee and breakfast. The food at Yama has been some of the best we’ve had in Bali, we ate here 5 nights out of the 7 that we stayed and when we ate elsewhere it was never quite as good! We also enjoyed using the paddle boards and having massages in the spa space that overlooks the river. All the staff at Yama were so happy and helpful, the WhatsApp messenger they have set-up was really useful to communicate - it made it easy to extend our stay by an extra night as we did not want to leave this little paradise. We hope to come back soon!

SwitzerlandJust be aware that this hotel is quite far from the airport. I spent about three hours in a taxi. It's more of a retreat for relaxation, yoga, and meditation, offering peace and tranquility away from the distractions of everyday life ✨
This was hands down the most beautiful hotel I've ever seen. It took my breath away. The garden was very clean; I had no idea a lawn could look so perfect haha :-)) staff was very friendly, this was definitely a 10 out of 10!! 🌱

NetherlandsLocation takes a longer time to get to, but all is good once you realise it’s because you’re really retreating from the noisy/ touristy bits of the rest of Bali.
- Location is 2.5 hours from the airport so though it’s far and harder to get to, Balian has so few foreign tourists and feels like old school Bali from 20 years ago. It’s remote, full of virgin jungles and Yama is like an oasis heaven in the midst of it. - Beds are super comfy. - Staff are attentive and lovely. - Restaurant overlooks the river where you can SUP and do daily yoga overlooking this serene scene. - Aesthetically as beautiful as presented in the photos: it’s lush and peaceful.

Stunning find in a small area. Felt very homely and relaxed at Yama. Boutique little villas. Quiet spot away from the hustle of busy areas in Bali but still a great surf location and great black beach.

SpainIt’s a little too far from the main attractions of Bali.
The facilities were wonderful and the situation, next to a river, was very peaceful. Breakfast and food of the restaurant in general delicious.

AustraliaIt’s hard to fault, if you want quiet relaxation this a great hideaway.
Cosy intimate setting. Tucked just back off the beach with a short walking trail to the beach. All food was healthy and tasty, perfectly presented, the staff were great. We enjoyed the extra options like daily yoga classes and river side massages. Devine getaway.

MalaysiaNot a deal-breaker, but we wished there was a kettle provided so that we can have access to hot water throughout the day, especially on colder days during the raining season.
The place is amazing. Serene and very well put together. It was really comfortable to lay back and relax. The staff are also nice and responsive to our needs throughout the stay.

MalaysiaEverything about this hotel is perfection: setting, rooms, staff, restaurant and spa. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect time at Yama Balian. The hotel is so close to the beach, a 2 minute walk through a palm forest and along a small road. The beach itself has gorgeous black, volcanic sand and plenty of driftwood. A great spot to surf and chill out from some of the crowded beaches a bit further along the coast. The rooms are spacious and so thoughtfully designed. The bed was comfortable and had plenty of space. I loved the thoughtful extra touches like bug spray and incense sticks. The bathroom was gorgeous and we loved the outside shower. A lovely touch with the plant and plentiful towels. The pool overlooks the river and the restaurant serves a range of healthy, delicious meals. I'd recommend the tacos! Thank you to the amazing staff who made our trip so perfect.
