Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomToo noisy and crowded. We had to have breakfast in the lobby as too busy in dining room and we went at a time we were told would be quieter. Felt sorry for staff who were clearly rushed off their feet. I’d recommend not bothering with breakfast and finding a cafe in town.
Spa was lovely friendly staff and great location.

IrelandOnly one small thing that could be easily rectified. The bed quilt was very suitable for winter but a lighter option for spring/ summer would be great. I didn't ask if this option was available though, as we just slept without it.
Very clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and courteous. Very reasonable pricing.for May. It was a very short spin by car to the beach. Wheelchair accessible close to reception. Will come again.

IrelandThe only thing that bothered me was when I had dinner in the hotel . The service was excellent, but unfortunately, the food left it down. I ordered the steak sandwich, and whilst the flavours were delicious, the amount of steak was not. It was about the same thickness of a bacon rasher, which I thought was a bit too thin for a steak sandwich. However, my husband had the burger, which he enjoyed immensely.
Staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and had a lovely fragrance throughout. The bar and lobby were comfortable with plenty of comfortable chairs and sofas. A lovely drive up to reception with a lovely garden outside. The best part was the staff, although mostly quite young, is the main reason I would recommend this hotel.

United KingdomMy expectations on booking were not what I experienced on arrival. Reading about a sea view and the views over a Galway - it was a shock to open my curtains and see a wall of trees. I had wanted to take photos at sunrise... Then, in search of the described view - I never found it. Also, I booked to go swimming but because of other issues I only swam once and so that was a bt of a let down. The staff were helpful and really really impressive in their wish to assist but I had not expected in my stay to be in the position of giving sit down feedback. People can only improve if these things are mentioned but still, a couple of hours out of my stay were lost with the room change at the beginning and the discussion at the end of my 2 day break (me wanting to point out that why I had booked was actually misleading). Yes, the room was lovely, VERY clean and VERY comfortable but it was still a shame to have so very much looked forward to this break and found it not to be as expected (based on the information I had read in advance). The grounds were lovely, there were many positives but the negatives did detract from my overall experience.
Prompted by this form to start with my thoughts about breakfast - it was good with a wide range of delicious food on offer but, in respect of communications, there were improvements to be made. Travelling alone, on my first morning I was told I could not sit by the windows because I was on my own and the tables with the nice garden view were for couples or family groups... In addition, I was told breakfast was served until 10.30am but really, it was encouraged to be there and eating before 10.30 (so, my first day's breakfast was greatly rushed to fit in eating it in time, myself having gone for a swim first). Whatever, breakfast is not where I would start my review. I am asked if it met my expectations? Eventually it did. The staff did all they could to make my stay comfortable but I booked because of a sea view - which was not there... I also booked to be in a quiet place and the first night there were loud guests downstairs partying. The hotel staff moved me so 10/10 for that but I was very tired and so the delay to get comfortable and to sleep was upsetting. I absolutely think staff did their best and was impressed by them but the communication at booking stage could have been improved.

IrelandThe location is well away from anything you want to do in Galway city centre. Getting taxis adds to the overall costs.
The hotel is a large property. The gardens really add to the property, particularly if the weather is good. The food was good and price reasonable. The room was very comfortable.

IrelandFacilities are a dated and expect more for the price, no proper coffee facilities in room, no dressing gowns and only option for breakfast is full buffet (paid 17e for weetabix, mini pastries and 2 machine made coffees). Location is good distance from both Salthill promenade and city, so factor in taxis.

United StatesThe pool was not for the hotel only. There was no way for us to lock our belongings or take them with us when using the pool. It was not relaxing and that was my main point in booking this hotel. The photo of the hotel pool was amazing and it was less than that when visiting.
The hotel was lovely but the updates are certainly needed. Breakfast was appreciated but other places that we stayed in Ireland were fresher.
