Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The room was decorated quite nicely, the bathroom was EXCELLENT!! Rain shower head and body sprayer. the people at the front desk were always so friendly and nice! easy walking distance to everything and parking wasn’t a problem. We loved it so much we extended our stay!! cute little town, in peak season it does get extremely crowded. town definitely caters to Americans!

Nothing, would definitely stay here again.
The location is ideal, in the centre of the town so within a short walking distance to everything. The rooms are really big, tastefully finished and modern, beds are comfy and the shower was excellent. Tea/Coffee station provided in the room also.

Hot water in the shower was so hot it would scald you. Mentioned it to reception and was told to adjust the on/off instead of the hot/cold, but that didn’t work! Stayed 2 nights, room was poorly made up for the second night.

Parking is very difficult as there is no dedicated car park and you need to find a spot on the street or across the street in a public lot.

The room did not seem to be cleaned to a high standard. Carpet in hallway is filthy. No car park. Reception staff totally unfriendly and unhelpful. Base advertises itself as a ‘hostel’ and yet charges 4* hotel prices! We have stayed here twice out of necessity & paid almost €600 for 2 nights both times… Base are totally overcharging for what they offer!
The location of the property is ideal.

Sadly our bathroom was not well cleaned.

The room could be dark at times, floors left socks quite dirty when not wearing shoes and the room above us was really noisy on both nights - lots of stomping feet in early AM and late again at night, disturbing to sleep. Water machine was slow to stop and overflowed mugs, and hairdryer was hard wired into the wall and a limited ‘stretchy’ cord, which did not stretch far - had to be used sitting down and even then did not fully stretch to my head.
Great location, bed was super comfortable and the room size was fantastic. Staff were helpful on locating a fan for the room.

We went four days without housekeeping. I let front desk know but there was still a continued lapse. We were given a handicapped room so the bathroom/shower was odd to navigate.
I didn't have breakfast. We had a problem with housekeeping and supplies running out in room such as tea bags, milk, sugar and I had to go to lobby to find items. Front desk staff was very helpful.
