The bathroom door was hard to close.

The hotel had a nice relaxed atmosphere. The staff were very welcoming. The food was delicious in Mapas restaurant.

The toilet was directly behind the door which made it difficult to access. We had heavy cases and there was no elevator to help us move them to our room.

Loved the fantastic breakfast. The decor was always a talking point that made us smile! The staff were lovely. I would love to come back here in the future.

Room had a lot of furniture I felt it didn’t need. Had issues with lights in bedroom and more plugs in room. Also, lamp should be plugged in as couldn’t find plug and had to manoeuvre around back table to plug it in. This could be difficult for older person. I found the step into the bath to be a hazard.

Unfortunately, during these times of finding staff, I was a little disappointed in the coverage of staff for the library bar. Several times when we wanted a drink, there was no bartender available. I understand at the time the bartender was also bring drinks to the MAPAS restaurant. The room itself was really warm at night. Most people want it cool to sleep, so heat wasn't really necessary.

Location was perfect for a visit with my sister and family in Dalkey. The things to do around the hotel kept us busy when it wasn't rainy. This is my second time at the FitzPatrick. The staff was very friendly and more than accommodating on our requests for taxi's, breakfast to go, extra water, etc.

The food was all high end. We asked the front desk person for a suggestion where we could get bar food like wings or a hamburger (6pm) and she directed us to the restaurant that had neither on the menu. When we pointed this out and asked for a local alternative, she showed us another menu (for another restaurant in the hotel) that had neither. We ended up sitting in the lobby and googling local pubs.

I ate in the Dungeon and I found it dark. I should have eaten in the Dining Room as I was eating alone.

I love the location, the atmosphere and the large bedrooms. It is a comfortable and homely hotel.

TV didn't have many good options. No herbal teas in the room. The hotels decor needed a bit of maintenance (but after the last few years, can understand why they may have left it)

Lovely room, though we had an ocean view room, you could just see the ocean from the side of the balcony. Balcony overlooked the carpark, but we could see the ocean further out. Lovely room & amenities. The breakfast was lovely. Location was close to be able to walk to the restaurants in good weather.

Room was clean although the ceiling hadn’t been cleaned in a while, there was dust hanging from the ceiling and on the lampshades. In general rooms could do with a revamp.

We were quite comfortable and happy with the accommodations.

We liked the location, the room and the staff were very friendly and helpful with directions and advice. We have special diets and brought our own breakfast. We would have liked regular coffee, not decaf provided, and cookies every day. The cookies were marvelous but we only got them on 2 days. We also met some lovely guests during our stay. Thank you for the refrigerator added to our room, we had to refrig medication.

Many smaller to bigger things were let-downs during out stay. The breakfast staff was unorganized, and we were at times seated at a table only half laid out with missing cutlery, cups, jams, or butter. Especially the cold buffet often felt unattended with empty packages laying around or empty (fruit) bowls half an hour into the service. During the rather expensive but otherwise really nice afternoon tea, we were given tea cups that were dirty. Some tiles in the shower were loose and threatened to come off completely. But the biggest issue pertains to the towels. In accordance with hotel policy, we left our bath towels on the towel rack to use them again the next day. Unbeknownst to us, room service had removed them nonetheless together with the soap and other toiletries that we had started (a bit of a waste since there was still plenty of everything). The next morning coming out of the shower, we realized the lack of towels as room service must have forgotten to provide new ones. We made due with the smaller hand towels and requested new towels at the reception that morning. The very bored receptionist took note of our request and promised new towels. However, that day no room service was done at all. After another trip to the reception, someone brought up a stack of towels and some toiletries - only for the pile of towels not to include bath towels. When we received new bath towels with the next room service, one was very dirty with huge dark patches. Only for our last day did we have no problems with the towels.

The terrace which serves great pizza and a beer-garden kind selection of drinks was amazing. We enjoyed sitting there in the evening for drinks or dinner. Some staff members (during afternoon tea, at the reception, or breakfast) were very nice, welcoming and helpful. During a rainy day, the pool was a very welcome pleasure.

1. Decor was very dowdy, brown wooden furniture. Calling it a castle shouldn't default to this type of dowdyness. 2. Room had an intermittent electrical fault where lights would not work. 3. All surfaces were clean, however layers of dust were clearly visible in covings etc.
