Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOnly downfall was the location was a little walk away from Temple Bar and there was a bit of live music that was quite loud in the bar downstairs (but it was good music so not all bad!)
Easy and friendly check in, bunks were sturdy and they didn't move too much when the person on top moved around. Room was a good size and the toilet/shower facilities were clean as well. Great bar! Felt super comfortable as a solo female traveller.

MexicoI got to share the room with an old guy who continuously got naked in front of me. He made me feel really uncomfortable. Then there was this other guy who took my charger from the plug in my bed without asking, and the day after, a girl used my sandals because she found them on the floor, I had to tell her they were mine and she gave them back.

IrelandThe weather was humid for most of my time in Generator and sadly, the room was badly lacking in air conditioning, if any at all. The window only opened to a small degree, which made the conditions very stuffy. And the shower room was even worse, no fan or no obvious air conditioning. Really poorly serviced for humid conditions.
Clean and comfortable bed. Very little outside noise. Staff pleasant. Unfortunately, what i didn't like (which i've outlined) rather spoiled my stay.

IrelandNo microwave facility and they dont encourage getting food from the outside. For a semi hostel situation this would be quite hard for people on the budget.
I like the online checkin and checkout process. Good to be able to do that in a non covid world.

AustraliaThe cleanliness was ok but the real issue seemed to be the lack of maintenance and a deep clean of surfaces in the off season. I've stayed here previously and it has gone down hill since my last visit. Too many "Out of Order", cubicle door locks broken, broken shower taps, etc
This is a very good and well run hostel and enables you to really enjoy Dublin

CanadaYou can't fault Generator for this but two of the other guys in my shared dorm were really loud. So, something to think about if sleep is important to you.
Friendly staff, great location, easy to get to from the airport or train station(s). I recommend visiting two places nearby: Bonobo for garden patio vibes and good pizza, and The Cobblestone, for trad music and atmoshere.

BelgiumThere was no fresh air in the room. Lockers are super uncomfortable: the lid is awfully heavy, you risk either smashing your fingers or waking up the whole room. To use the locker you have to completely get it out from under the bed so it’s impossible to quickly access it. There’s no way to hang a towel to dry near the bed (and towels cost €3). The positioning of the beds provides no privacy. The sink in the bathroom is very small even though there is enough space for a bigger one.
24/7 check in, easy check out, a lot of extra services in the hostel: a vending machine, luggage storage etc. Many things you could’ve forgotten to bring with you can be purchased conveniently in the hostel although prices are not great. There’s a bathroom in the room which was super clean.

Czech RepublicBathroom with the dormitory room wasn´t working nicely (flushing) and shower looks dirty. Breakfast was expensive (7.50e) for what you got (buns, butter, marmelade/nutella, chees, ham, coffee/tea, milk, cereals, bad fruit salad, disgusting orange juice). Storage room in basement was super expensive (6e per day). No locks for borrowing to lock your more precious things you dont want to carry with you to the city. So bring your own lock for keeping your things safe.
Nicely working hostel. Beds had shelfs and comfortable size.
