Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

The room was spotlessly clean, Oliver was exceptionally personable, and extremely accommodating, providing everything we required, nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay here again.

I liked everything.
Oliver is an absolute gentleman. He is easy going, extremely welcoming and very accommodating not to mention great craic. The house is about 20 minutes outside Kilkenny, so is nice and peaceful away from the noise of the city but not too far for a late night taxi home. The house is huge and my room was more like an apartment, with a big comfy double bed, living area and kitchen. The ensuite was perfect had a wet room which is always a bonus. I can't recommend Kate's Rest highly enough. Thanks for everything Oliver. 5 star's

Not anything to do with property but nothing near eg pub for food or takeaway nearest is kilkenny centre! Parking narrow for Range Rover!!!

Oliver the owner was very thoughtful and kind. The quadruple room was spotless and more than adequate for our needs. Views are spectacular, venue was so quoet and peaceful at night

My husband and I stayed here for three nights. The room we stayed in was spotless and so comfortable. We had a continental breakfast every morning which was delicious and a great way to start the day. Oliver was an amazing host and so friendly. Kate's rest is close to Kilkenny city and other locations. I would definitely recommend staying here and will definitely be back 😄

Very good size apartment. Lovely host. We equipped for a little child. Continental breakfast was very nice with an excellent array. Only 20 minutes from Kilkenny we could not have asked for a better accommodation to be based from.

The host Oliver, was the best, so kind and generous with information. The room was huge with a little kitchen. Very clean. Not close to any amenities in the local area, but you'd have a car to stay there anyway. Absolutely loved my stay here.

The wasn't a bathroom door, just a curtain, which got a bit awkward travelling with friends.
The older gentleman who greeted us was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The maisonette was cosy and very quiet, the kitchen had everything you might need to cook simple meals and breakfast.

the toaster was fuuullll of pieces of bread and stained. Should be renewed. The dish washer was out of service. Just a suggestion for the coffe. They have a good Coffe machine in the breackfast area, but no coffe cups.. Let me suggest to introduce a Nespresso machine and coffe cups. Italians will love it.
The apartment was big and nice. Overall clean with little exceptions like the toaster that was fuuullll of pieces of bread and stained. Should be renewed. You can find almost everything in the apartment.

The house of Oliver is about 20 minutes from Kilkenny center by car. The room is clean and we had a very comfortable suite for family with kitchen inside. We received useful information of parking in Kilkenney from Oliver. Our staying there was very pleasant.

There was a sky light in the bedroom with no blind so I had to do a makeshift cover with a towel so that I wasn't awake early. The bathroom door upstairs didn't allow for much privacy as it was more like a screen.
Spacious apartment, good value for money. Had all the kitchen equipment I might need. Host was very friendly. 2 bathrooms with a decent shower in. Self serve continental breakfast was available eventhough I wasn't expecting it. Host was very welcoming, including when I asked if it would be OK if I had a friend to stay over one night or my trip.

A little more variety for breakfast but the breakfast room was very clean and the food offered was very fresh.
Ollie was a great host, very friendly and eager to provide assistance with places to eat and tourist attractions. The room was very comfortable with a lot of room to spread out.

The hot water was not very hot, at different times of the day i have tried. It was OK as it was not cold outside, and i didn't let the owner know. But that was the knly thing Also, maybe a bigger sign for the place at the entrance.
Very nicely maintained garden, although they can do with a few more chairs, naybe they have, but it wasn't needed at the time. Our room was very nice, bright and clean, with lovely bedding and very comfortable mattres.. The kitchen was fully equipped for what we needed, and the owner was very bice and friendly. Very nice stay, would recomand and come again.
