Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyNo easy parking around, parking spaces nearby cost 1,5€ per hour even during night time, therefore one overnight parking can cost 15€/20€ Cleansiness of the rooms and the communal area are just within the limit of decency. The cleaners should use a bit more elbowgrease.... Half the services decleared are not available really. To be fair the price for that type of accomodation shuold be reduced to half. The only aspect that keeps the structure in line with market is the exagerated costs of other facilities nearby, which only u.s.a. people are willing to afford not knowing possible alternatives....

AustriaKitchen facilities are in poor conditions. Dishes and cutlery are dirty, food storages are messy, frigdes disgusting. The situation could be easily improved e.g. by providing sponges and proper kitchen towels. Information boards are not maintained and outdated.

United KingdomTables were unclean. In two of our rooms people were allowed to come in very late at night ( 3.30 am drunk and noisy ) I and other people in the room got woken up by a very drunk individual . There should be a curfew after which people are not allowed in and a better system for reporting individuals who are drunk and disturbing people trying to sleep

United KingdomWoman at reception wasn't friendly. Not many parking spaces, we were told we'd have to go to a public one. A few of the plugs downstairs didn't work. The tops of the fridges were dirty, in fact the whole place looked grubby. On booking.com it said towels would be provided, which they were not. Though on another website it states something different.
I suppose it had beds. We had a private bathroom, which for a hostel is pretty good. Location is good for driving the Ring of Kerry the following day.

IrelandBeds were not assigned so we had to guess which one was ours, lights were faulty, not sure if sheets were clean cause other people might have sleep in our bed, not knowing if it was theirs, bathrooms were most of the time dirty, some of the personnel were very rude.

IrelandMy partner and I sat in our car for half an hour after we checked out of this place reading the reviews to try and process the fraudulent experience we had here. Came across one positive review which claimed "you get what you pay for" and "lower your expectations", which was presumably posted by the man we dealt with at reception who I believe is the owner, because I can safely say that you DO NOT get what you pay for here. We paid €110 for a night in a dingy set of bunk beds which didn't even have a ladder. The bathroom mirror was covered in mould and there was no soap or towels in the bathroom. The tattiest towels I've ever seen had to be hired for €3 a pop, and the receptionist wouldn't accept payment for them on the card machine. His regard was so curtailed that he shamelessly pocketed that cash right in front of us, and tried to get us to source coinage because he didn't have the right change. He scowled because we couldn't accommodate his lack of correct change. The only time he looked up from whatever he was doing under the desk was to take our payment. No hello upon arrival, no goodbye upon departure. Nothing short of an arrogant prick. Killarney is a beautiful place, but staying in the Railway Hostel will taint your experience of it completely. The fact that the location is so central is totally highjacked. Absolutely not worth what you pay.

United StatesSmelly rooms and everyone in my room was snoring (I know that's not the hostels fault)--but I would probably stay in a smaller room if I ever decided to come back to this hostel, which isn't likely. Bathrooms & showers did not seem super clean to me

IrelandOur experience at this hostel was extremely disappointing. The staff were rude and unhelpful, with a careless attitude that made us feel unwelcome. Despite being promised a complimentary car park spot in writing, it was not provided upon arrival. The room itself was tiny and had a strong unpleasant odor. The blankets were dirty and emitted a foul smell, prompting us to sleep on our towels and clothing instead. The bedding was stained and had holes, and despite reporting this to the receptionist, no action was taken to address the issue. The lack of ventilation in the room made the situation even more uncomfortable. The cramped space, with bunk beds that barely allowed for a small alley to pass through, was not conducive to a restful night's sleep. Our room, 107, was in a state of disrepair and left much to be desired. Overall, our stay at this hostel was nothing short of a nightmare. We would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and clean accommodation option. PS we were asked to pay upon arrival although it was stated that no need to pay up front. We have also reported the issues to Booking and heard no response.

IrelandI got very little sleep because of the noise from other guests. I had a private room thankfully but there was a few lads staying in the rooms beside me and they were drunk and shouting right outside my door, from 2.30am until after 4am. I could hear one of them getting sick in the toilet. It was a very unpleasant experience and I paid 100 Euro for that! I could have got a room in a nice hotel for the same or a little extra.
The location was perfect. Only a 2 minute walk to the bus station and train station and just a few minutes walk into town.
