Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IrelandThe staff need to be more helpful. And please warn people about the stairs. Older people stay in hostels too nowadays. And those 3 flights (really 6) nearly killed me.
A really nice hostel. Lovely facilities and garden.

IrelandThere was supposedly a restaurant downstairs, but I could not find it. That could be ascribed to user error, but it was definitely unclear. I could summon up more petty gripes-- the coffee machine was overpriced and janky-- but frankly for the price and the generally comfortable facilities, none of the little inconveniences were particularly notable.
The facilities were clean and sufficient for use, and the curtains around the beds allowed for a nice degree of privacy, though it could get pretty stuffy in the bed nooks with the curtain drawn, especially with the lamp on. Staff were friendly and helpful.

IrelandOnly complaint again is staff. I really wish hostels would either a. Employ staff with communication skills and a bit of knowledge of the area. Or b. Give them a training course on how to deal with people. Smiling, eye contact, helpfulness etc. It matters, no matter how cheap the accommodation.
A lovely hostel.

United StatesThe beds are extremely noisy, any time anyone adjusts in their bed the entire bunk bed makes loud noises. The shower stalls walls are all coming apart, the locks on some of the stalls don’t exist, and there is no ventilation in the bathroom so it feels like you’re in a sauna. The toilets are bolted down so they can easily be moved just during use. One of the toilets flooded half of the fourth floor and it didn’t appear to be a big deal. I can’t imagine that’s very hygienic… The smoking area is directly connected to the kitchen which I think is a little weird. They don’t close any of the door so cigarette smoke will fill the entire 2nd floor lobby and bar area. They have 1 washer and 1 dryer that are occupied until 5pm each day by the linens, the dryer leaves your clothes completely soaked after 1hr of use. They rent towels for €5 but they are very nasty, covered in stains, and feel very rough.
The location of the hostel is very nice. They have an elevator so if you are on a higher floor you don’t have to worry about carrying your luggage up the stairs.

United StatesOnly the 2nd floor has bathrooms and shower. If you stay on the 1st or 3rd floor, you have to travel to the 2nd floor if you want to use bathroom at night. There is no lift. The ladder for the top bunk was poorly made. It hurt my foot.
Staff was friendly and tried to accommodate my request (bottom bunk) as much as possible. Bedroom was spacious and wasn't overcrowded with beds. There's a luggage storage.

Ireland- The shower head, attached to the wall, was loose and leaning down, but still functional - There are both freezers and fridges in the kitchen. The freezers aren't always properly labelled, so you might accidentally come in late at night, too tired to figure out the details, and come back in the morning finding out your food is icy, not merely cool - The beds are quite short - The road in front of the hotel isn't particularly quiet, and in the summer the window has to stay open - The worst flaws of the hostel are not the staff's own fault, but rather the other guests': there is a quiet reading area on the first floor, but some folks just come in at a certain point and start talking and playing music. Other people leave dirty dishes in the kitchen, clearly expecting someone else to clean them. Furthermore, some appear to think curtains make bunk beds soundproof, so there's nothing wrong with them not using headphones with their phone or laptop after 11 PM
- Staff was corteous - There is a kitchen and a dining area - The beds come with curtains - Central position - Good price (although I got a discount) - The dorm room has its own shower/toilet room

AustriaWhile most of the hotel smelled very great, the room I stayed in did not smell very well, especially when you first opened the door. You have to wear wristbands, which I found a bit unnecessary.
Staff were very kind. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Privacy curtains. Lovely building. Location is great as it is close to the centre (you can easily walk there).

SpainNot really the fault of the hostel but the last day there was a guest whose key-card stopped working so they were knocking on the door for twenty minutes in the early hours of the morning. If you go to reception they will help you reprogram your card or let you in without waking up and disturbing other guests.
The location was really convenient to the center of town, the trams, and the airport buses. I thought the rate was good vale for money. There was a quiet area and the room I was in was very chill. Each bed had a lamp and an electrical outlet, plus a USB outlet.

IrelandI had a top bunk which was a bit difficult to get into and out of. The showers were okay however they did not allow for any control of the heat of the water and as someone who likes hot showers, I found that a bit disappointing. The bathroom was also located a bit away from the room I was in, which made it unnecessarily difficult to get to during night. At one point I had someone peep through my privacy curtains which was a bit alarming lol and when booking, it initially wasn’t specified I’d be in a room with 14. My room was on the third floor and to my knowledge there was no lift so climbing up the stairs with my heavy luggage wasn’t fun. Cleanliness was alright however could be better
It was comfortable and maintained adequate privacy with the curtains around the bed. I also had my own lamp, a plug and a storage section in my bed space. There were lots of facilities and the location was quite handy in terms of bus/luas access etc. Staff seemed nice and check in was quick and thorough via the online system

New ZealandThe Levin Hostel George was affordable accommodation in an expensive city. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I enjoyed meeting some of the fellow hostellers. The location was good, close to central Dublin. The facilities were basic but adequate for my requirements in keeping with the tariff.
