Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

There was nothing to dislike.
The guest house was warm and welcoming, it was akin to a small hotel and was very professionally laid out with a welcoming atmosphere. I was staying in the Birches to participate in an event so the morning breakfast was very welcome and fulfilling. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Birches Killarney to anyone be it for a business or leisure trip.

No room refresh before our second night, and no hooks or bars to hang damp towels on.
The host was very friendly. The room was newer, clean and comfortable. The location is great!

Nothing to complain about with this hotel.
Very nice clean and comfortable hotel. Location was close to town but not so close that it was noisy.

Poor breakfast options. If the premises was a B&B I would of gotten the choice of hot dishes like bacon, eggs, sausages there wasn't this option.

Our stay at Birches was exceptional! The staff was friendly, and the room was beyond comfortable. Perfect location with great restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely stay there again.

Great location, almost in the center. The bed is simply king. The room is spacious. There is heating. Bathroom with shower cabin. A hair dryer is available. The owners are friendly.

The staff were beyond lovely and helpful (especially when we accidentally got locked out at night, they immediately came to our rescue). The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms immaculate, the towels were large and clean, the shower from heaven!! Fantastic quiet location but close to town centre with parking. Would 100% stay there again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Great location on the edge of city area. Close enough but far enough out that it was quiet. Rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was perfectly fine.

Loved this property! Super clean, comfortable, and spacious room. Nice big bathroom. Good breakfast options, good location. Quiet, but close to downtown (5 minute walk). Highly recommend.

Great room and great location! Only 3 minutes from downtown. Great continental breakfast in the morning offered and the room was perfect to stay for a couple of days. The staff are absolutely amazing and they really want you to enjoy your stay, I highly recommend this hotel and you also have access to parking which is great when you are traveling by car

The property is conveniently located with a decent amount of parking, making it a good spot from which to explore Killarney and Killarney National Park. Everything is close by. Reasonable value for money. A small continental breakfast is provided.

no power point in bathroom. Stairs made it a bit harder with luggage but still managed ok. We knew it had stairs when booked.
Monika on the front desk looked after our needs. She provided us with a mini fridge to keep some medication refrigerted and kept in the room. The beds are comfortable, the shower is great. the window could be partially opened for fresh air as rooms are not airconditioned. A fan was available in the room. Monika kept the kitchen well stocked for breakfast and regular cleaning made it.
