Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Large comfy rooms with a huge, and new bathroom. Nice little tea and breakfast area that was open all day. Staff were great, very kind with great suggestions on where to stay/go. Easy walking distance to town, and very near the gardens / national park.

Bed was too soft for me but may suit others.
Lovely spacious and modern room. Excellent location - easy walking distance to main town centre. Friendly staff. Good continental breakfast included.

We liked most the friendly welcome and the warm people of the hotel. We would surely come back here. During the day it was possible to take a coffee or tea. The room was very nice and the bed great.

Breakfast could be better.
Rooms were clean and beds were very comfortable. Monika the hostess was very accommodating. Breakfast was adequate but I can understand that they do not want to operate a kitchen. The common dining area was also very clean and well stocked.

as there was no air conditioning it was a little stuffy in the room, no lift

No kettle in the room but there was a kettle/coffee Mc in the shared lounge/kitchen area which was beautifully set up.
Lovely comfortable bed, fresh white fluffy towels, new modern bathroom, great shower, location was fab and unexpectedly a do it yourself continental breakfast was available, thanks so much🙏🏻

I understand that there isn't a cooked breakfast (and that was not a problem), but as there is some food available for breakfast, maybe you could provide a toast option (normal bread, as I know bagels were an option) , and maybe a few more pastries (just a thought!), but it wouldn't stop me from staying there again 😊
Excellent location, 2 minute walk to main town centre. Comfy beds, very clean.

All aspects of the Birches were great for us - location, carparking, rooms, wide hallways, breakfast provisions and staff service. We had been in the UK and Ireland for about a month, and the Birches was our best accommodation during our trip.

Location was excellent, less than a 5 minute walk to town cente where there is a variety of restaurants and pubs, the hotel rooms were very clean, modern and spacious, free tea and coffee facilities were available at all times in the lounge room. Excellent value for money and friendly staff. Will definitely stay again

Honestly the only thing missing here in my opinion is Tea and Coffee facilities within your own room. These are only available in the common room downstairs which is open all day and easily accessible, but it is still nice to have your own private options.
The bed was absolutely amazing. I have never slept in such a comfortable bed. The room was excellent and modern. Shower fantastic. Good breakfast available. The pastries were lovely. Plenty of parking.
