Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The bed was not the most comfortable and I was woken up a lot.
The staff was great and super helpful and the place was nice and cleaned. I loved the kitchen area a lot

Good breakfast included - home-baked soda bread every day, fresh fruit, and tea and coffee. Kitchen facilities if needed. Good lounge/kitchen/social area too for hanging out and meeting people. Location was fine, but then again it's Galway, you can walk pretty much everywhere wherever you stay. Extra special shout-out to Ronnie at reception, was absolutely fantastic throughout the entire stay.

Questionable activities in the bedroom... Bathrooms are a little scarce and small.
Great staff, Kenny was very helpful. Breakfast is decent.

Beds were a bit hard. Water pressure in the shower wasn't the best

Unfortunately my room was colder than I expected (dunno if they were not working or were not turned on...) and I was sleeping on my bed right next to the windows. In the living room there was a bookshelf piano, I would rather it to be a proper piano because we artists and musicians love a piano at a place we're staying. That's a great way to gather around people and meet each other. Besides all, my stay was wonderful. X
Lovely staff, GREAT location near to the main amenities and lots of craic pubs around to gather people around. The Christmas Market is only 5 min-walk away from the hostel. Simple but delicious breakfast with homemade flapjacks and soda bread everyday from 7 to 10. Tea, coffee and chocolate all day long. There's a living room where you can meet interesting people and have a chill chat while sitting on the armchairs.

I felt like the bunkbed was tilting when the person from the upper bed was climbing down the ladder. But other than that, nothing to complain.
The kitchen and hangout area was really inviting. When booking I did not know that there was breakfast included (first come first serve though)! That was a nice surprise! Everybody was very welcoming and the staff gave great advice on what to do in Galway. The hostel is located near the Latin quarter, also the Galway Cathedral is not far.

Staff weren't friendly. Apartment was not ready for an extra 2.5 hours and no discount was given for the inconvenience.

Lack of shower gel in the toilet and maybe a rug on the tiled floors. However it is understandable as it is a hostel.

we slept in room #8. The temperature was either cold or very hot.

Not enough washroom in hostel Breakfast items are very few also Lemon water was also not changed for few days

In my opinion there could be more toilets snd showers for the amount of people staying in the Hostel, still they were clean anyway. The stairs are narrow.
The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and relaxed. They were very keen on making your stay as good as possible. The rooms were big and clean. The toilets were mostly clean all the time but there was always the possibility to talk to the staff if you had the feeling that it needed to be cleaned.. The breakfast was included and was pretty decent- brwad, flapjacks, fresh fruit and oats. My stay at Woodquay Hostel was very good and I would recommend it and would go back there.
