Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThis was my second time staying at Jaffa Gate Hostel, and after my first visit I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else in Jerusalem. The location is beautiful with views of the dome of the rock and the church of the holy sepulchre, the rooms are large and comfortable with amazing facilities, and the guys who run the hostel go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home during your stay. My partner and I had a fantastic time during our visit, and I hope to be back soon!

United StatesIt was a bit difficult to find the location at first, the house is an old stone building thus it has somewhat of old smell to it, I'd have liked to have a bit more shampoo packets.
Amazing to stay inside the old Jerusalem city wall, in a small private historical stone house, right near Jaffa Gate. Near to visit any place you need. Host is kind, generous, informative, & very caring to share all the economical ways to enjoy the stay in Jerusalem sight seeing, shopping, or eating.

United StatesI liked it all.
The Jaffa Gate Hostel is a magical place. You are truly immersed in Jerusalem at this hostel. The location is perfect. Make sure you check out their rooftop view 🤩. The family who runs the hostel are truly amazing people. This is a special place, filled with good energy. Whether you travel solo, or as a couple, or a group, this property has a variety of rooms. I was a solo traveler this time but I will return with family and friends and stay at Jafa Gate Hostel again!!

PolandThe rooftop has a great potential but it would benefit from some maintanance work.
Excellent location! Great value for the money. It’s very clean. Really hot shower, which is not so common in old city. The staff are superb. They display genuine hospitality and happily give advice on what to see in the city as well as where to eat without spending a fortune. The real gem of this place is the people who run it. It’s a home away from home.

The kindness and availability of Mr NOOR the receptionist to answer questions and give us the best information on the visits. Visits are also offered on site and it is Mr. NOOR who is responsible for making reservations for those who wish. He also found a taxi to take me back to Ben Gurion Airport on a Saturday, Shabbat when there is no transportation in the city. He is a very nice and helpful person. The hotel is a building over 600 years old and is located in the Old City of Jerusalem, close to places to visit. It offers simplicity and calm which contrast with the crowds outside. Clean establishment. I slept in a 4 female room, I only had one female with me during my stay. The toilets/showers are in the room but if you want a little privacy, there are toilets/showers in the corridors. Access to the roof provides a beautiful view of Jerusalem day and night. I've enjoyed my stay. I will definitely come back.

FranceGreat location near to the Christian quarter but also near the Aqsa mosque. Really good hotel and really clean even if the equipment is not the most modern you could find but I swear it is enough. You can immerse in the vibe of Jerusalem. You will feel like home, the room was clean, the towels and bed were smelling really good, the bed was comfortable and there was an air condition that was working really good. You can also enjoy a beautiful view from the top of the building where you can see a part of the old city of Jerusalem, really beautiful. The Hotel was really calm and peaceful. Special mention to Hassim, he hosted us like we were his brother and sister. He is so nice and kind, he had the best advices and best history to tell us. If you want to meet a native from Jerusalem with a good and pure heart, he will be your man. We WILL definitely come back to Jerusalem and when we will it will be at Jaffa Gate Hostel. I would recomend this place to everyone I know if they have a trip to Jerusalem. Greetings from Bochra & Adel

SerbiaSve nam se dopalo.
The location of Jaffa Gate Hostel is phenomenal, this is the second time we have stayed in this hostel, and we will choose this hostel every next time. All the most important sights are within 5 minutes from the hostel, which gives you the opportunity to make the most of your time. The view from the terrace of the hostel is priceless, overlooking the entire Old City of Jerusalem. We owe special thanks to the staff of the hostel, who were always available for any kind of help, they made us feel at home at all times. It is also close to pubs, restaurants, shops, public transport stations, in a word, everything you need for a quality and unforgettable vacation.

United KingdomBeautiful accommodation on the edge of the old city in Jerusalem - the staff were incredibly lovely, and made us feel entirely welcome.
