We liked that the location was not far away from the main ghats. We had breakfast and dinner and it was really good. As it was very cold at the time we have been at Varanasi we got some supplementary cover for the night. Our host organized a taxi to take us from the airport and to bring us there to a moderate prize.

The room was great - large, clean, comfortable bed and nice bedding, a strong hot shower. The staff were all helpful and the guest house owner very kind. It’s superbly located minutes walk from the main bathing ghat and the intensity of Varanasi life and yet down a quiet lane and it was quiet enough to sleep. I will definitely be staying there again. It’s perfect for experiencing Varanasi life.

The room is just a tad chilly during winter, even with the heater. Getting to and from the hotel and the main road with a suitcase is a tricky affair but something that the staff are happy to help with.

It’s location is a great starting point for exploring the alleyways of Varanasi. It is near the ghats as mentioned in previous reviews. The staff were always happy to help and Dr. Arvind was most hospitable and went out of his way to help us. Having a good hot shower in winter is always a treat!

We were lucky to stay at Anand Kanan during our 3-day trip to Varanasi. Both of us were in Varanasi for the first time. The experience on the streets with all the colors,sounds and smells can be intense, so it was very good to have a quiet safe home where we can just come and rest. Rooms are comfortable and clean, and it was great to have a restaurant inside where the food was good and we didnt need to put extra effort to find a good place to eat if we felt tired. It was a great pleasure to meet the owner of the hotel, Arvind. We enjoyed his welcome tea and great conversation about Indian philosophy and Varanasi.

Staffs were super supportive, well mannered, and always ready to help. In my view it is not a hotel, it is your house in banaras. Me and my wife met the owner. He is a very good person, and helped us to reach the station on time 👍. And thanks to Mr. Sanju, the manager of the hotel.. overall, we enjoyed our stay.

I liked everything about it.

I thought everything was wonderful. When I first saw the reviews for the Anand Kansan I thought that the reviews exaggerated. However I can’t stress enough how much I loved my stay here. The room was very clean and comfortable. Early in the evening there is noisy from the streets but it becomes quiet at night. Arvind is the perfect, genuinely caring host and his staff is excellent. The location is in the middle of everything. You are really immersed in the excitement and mystery of Varanasi. Oh, and you should try their meals. Excellent!

This was a wonderful property and oasis amongst the hustle and bustle. I started my trip to India staying here and feel so lucky that I booked Anand Kanan. The rooms are clean, the beds are incredible comfortable, and Dr. Arvind Singh is a wonderful person to talk with! They helped me with booking a taxi from the airport and even cooked me a late night meal.

Anand Kanan owned and operated by the wonderful Dr Arvind Singh was truly a home away from home. Warm and personable, Dr Singh gave us a lot of insight into the Indian belief system about cremations. We had a great 3 night stay in the heart of heart of the old city, minutes away from the entrance to the ghats. One of the best things about our stay was the shower. We had a never ending supply of hot water, which for India is a huge deal! We loved our stay and would highly recommend Anand Kanan to all travelers.

Dining room area is dark and enclosed so we opted to eat at other cafes in the mornings. Internet was spotty at times.

Best shower water pressure and heat of any stay we had. Really wonderful location, truly minutes away from the ghats. Owner and staff are very kind and personable. The view out of our hotel window was absolutely stunning.

Getting there requires walking through a narrow and dirty alley, which is not easy with a large suitcase – however, the staff helped me and carried the suitcase on the way out.

Clean little hotel in the heart of Varanasi. The owner and staff were very helpful. Their kitchen prepares excellent Indian dishes.

Access to Uber vehicles. However, being nestled in the alleys had its advantage so this is a trade off that I was already aware. Not a big issue to me. However, I can imagine the walk to be an issue for some travellers.

The location is close to the ghats, deep in narrow alleys. Probably will not hear much traffic but that also means that cars will not be able to reach the location. In fact, the nearest roundabout where cars and autos are available is about 10 minutes walk away. So it depends how you want to be to the ghats. The market and food places are nearby. However, the main draw of this accommodation is the service. From the staff to the owner, the staff will do their best to make your stay a pleasant one.
