Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Friendly, helpful staff. I arrived when they had a cooking activity and the food was delicious! Beds, dorms and bathroom all clean and comfortable. Rooftop with great views. Would recommend. They also have a kitchen which is a bonus.

I had a great stay at Back Stayz Hostel in Rishikesh. The staff was very kind and helpful. They have a clean kitchen and daily yoga on the terrace, which was amazing. The terrace has the best views of Tapovan and Rishikesh. Everything was clean and comfortable, making my stay perfect.

Even though I like the vibe of the hostel so much, if I compare it with the Blue Jay Hostel Rishikesh, Blue Jay wins in terms of cleanliness and maintenance. The dorm (in Back Stayz) had the paint chipping off in places or some wires sticking out of the wall. Then there was some dust near the window. Also, some spots in the washroom felt neglected, like the cupboard under the washbasin or the tiles seemed a bit rundown. I'd say focus on nooks and crannies, too, from time to time. But all in all, these little details didn't make my stay less amazing.
I stayed at this place two years ago for 1,5 months and had a blast. This time, it was equally amazing, even though I didn't stay that long. The hostel really gives me a homely vibe and the staff members are so cool and kind. I made some amazing new friends among the guests, too.

In a 6 bed dorm we shared 1 bathroom.
The location was great, walking distance to the main area of Tapova. The rooms, bathrooms and common area were all clean and tidy. The staff were super helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Since it was cold...having hot water kettle in pvt rooms would have been better. Going down every time to fetch some was lil tiresome.
Good Location and quite accessible. Neat and clean. Friendly staff and good programs organized in the evening. Very chilled, comfy vibe.

Overall, the stay was very comfortable but just 2 things, the reading light of the bed was not working and so at night I needed to use a mobile torch so that the other roommates didn't get disturbed and there should be some common activity so that everyone can get the chance to know other travellers too.
The location is great. It's just a minute walk to the auto stand and also several good cafes are at walkable distance. The room and washroom were very clean and special mention to Pranay who was kind enough to accommodate early checkin request and the staff was very polite and helpful.

All is good almost..
The Property is really Good and it's feels more like a another home where you can freely ask anything to anyone. The property manager Parnay is very helpful and a good musician as well.

My stay was absolutely fantastic! The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. From check-in to check-out, everything went smoothly. Their hospitality really made my stay memorable. The ambiance truly enhanced my experience. Everything I wanted to see was within walking distance, and it made my trip so convenient. The best part was sharing an iternary to each guest was a brilliant idea and very helpful as well. Highly recommended. Loved everything!
