IndiaFood was a complete disaster! Breakfast buffet was the same each day of our stay and lacked taste. Cost cutting was evident every step of the way so far food was concerned. Cleanliness and upkeep of the property wasn’t on point. Property seriously lacked in green space.

United KingdomWe are a party of 7 and arrived late to find that there were only beds for 6 people despite it being clear on our booking that there were 7 of us. On the second night there was a wedding party with noise so loud we could feel the room shake because of the bass of the speakers. We asked multiple times if the music could be turned down but were ignored. We were then told the music would finish at midnight however it went on until 1am. As we were up the next morning at 5am to visit the Taj I had a terrible sleep with only a couple of good hours of sleep. This completely ruined my visit to the Taj. The next day when we complained the manager was totally unhelpful and eventually offered some Hilton points which were worth nothing to me. After this experience I won’t be using Hilton hotels again.

United KingdomPoor front desk service. We arrived as a party of two 5 in each group all family. One party received welcome cookies and free upgrade the other did not. No reason for why each party were treated differently. No conditioner in the bath room. The swimming pool was more of a paddling pool very small. We asked for no smoking rooms. But as soon as you got off the lift you could smell cigarettes.
The breakfast had a wide selection.

This place is salvation. Do not stay in local hotels!!! They look ok on photo, but don’t believe — it’s a fraud. We were "lucky" to spend three hours in one of these after watching several similar ones. Local hotels are not cleaned at all, bedclothes are stained, the walls and windows are dirty, the toilets are a separate quiet horror. There is no paper in them, everything is rusty, dirty, and the towels are so dusty that you immediately sneeze. Everything at Double Tree was at the highest level: cleanliness, beauty, delicious local cuisine at all meals, an excellent swimming pool, gym and, of course, responsive and considerate staff. Do not spare any money to stay here, otherwise you will simply spoil your impression of Taj Mahal cause you’ll be tired and upset before visiting this magnificent pearl of Indian culture.

IndiaThe food especially dinner, was lacklustre and not at all up to the standard that one expects from a hotel, especially for the price one pays. The underside of the bed was dusty and dirty. The TV had wires hanging out of it, the AC control was not working. There was nothing in the minibar, just an empty fridge and drawers. When I called room service, the person who answered asked me to call the reception even though I was calling for room service! When we checked in I was told that breakfast would be added at a cost to the room and that the full amount would be taken on check in - that's fine, so we paid in full. When checking out, I learned that the cost for breakfast had not actually been added and would therefore be chargeable - obviously the guy who checked us in was not around when we were checking out!
The bed was clean and I appreciated the housekeeping staff who came in to clean up the second day.

IndiaThere was quite a lot we did not like about our stay. The service and room cleaning were highly disappointing. The staff seemed to be in a constant rush, and bathrobes were never changed throughout our stay. Hygiene was a serious concern for me. My wife discovered a fly in the strawberry yogurt at the buffet's dessert section. While she reported it to the staff, the staff took the bowl away, leaving us unsure if it was replaced or simply brought back. It raises questions about how often these 5-star properties carrying big names are checked for maintaining their standards and delivering quality service. Given the high expectations that come with a 5-star rating, the overall experience felt flat. After this experience, I’ve realized that star ratings don’t guarantee food quality, hygiene, or good customer service. Star ratings may not always reflect a hotel's cleanliness or the level of service you can expect. While thousands of positive reviews may influence your decision, as they did ours, we found that it’s the few star detailed reviews where guests highlight what didn’t go well can truly help you evaluate a hotel. Not Going Back, and Won't Recommend. Be careful with the food!
The only positive aspect of my stay was the room size—it was spacious and comfortable. Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient, but unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. During check-out, they did listen to our feedback about the stay, including the issue with the fly in the yogurt, and showed concern. Ms. Pooja was particularly attentive, addressing the review my wife left and kindly arranging sandwiches for our journey as a gesture of goodwill. However, we paid for a luxury experience, not the average service we received—something any standard hotel could offer. I expected more from Hilton.
