Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

RomaniaNot worth mentioning
The hostel is very spacious, clean. Staff is large, involved and there's a great atmosphere created by them. It's a good place for volunteers, as well! I'm not a volunteer, I am actually a digital nomad and I am very glad everyone was understanding that. 😁

United KingdomBy far the best hostel I’ve stayed at in India! The rooms are absolutely huge, everywhere was spotlessly clean, breakfast was lovely, the common areas are stunning, the rescue kittens are adorable, the staff are amazing and it really feels like a family away from home! IndiaBig old ancestral home converted into a hostel. Loved the interiors and the fact that house managed to retain its old world charm. Our host and the property manager, Danish, was helpful throughout- helped in arranging for the bike, recommended local hang out spots, where to buy spices and of course, the 'secret beach'. The in-house breakfast which was usually a local kerala delicacy was absolutely delicious- especially more so after the morning swim. Loved lounging in all the nooks and corners of the house and chatting with the other travellers staying on property.

GermanyIf there’s any downside it might be the location, as without tuk tuk or scooter it’s hard to get anywhere from the hostel. But the manager makes it super easy to rent a scooter and it’s also just a vibe to chill in the common area and garden of the hostel.
Hostel in a beautiful house/villa with very nice and welcoming staff that helps out with organizing all kinds of things and makes sure the guests have a nice stay. It almost gives the vibe of staying in a big family’s house compared to other rather impersonal hostels.

United KingdomSlightly out of the way of things to do in middle of summer (when walking a lot is very hot) & kitchen slightly messy. But I’m being picky there, overall if these are big things to you then spend a lot more on a hotel or houseboat in Aleppey etc
Great hostel vibe and friendly hostel staff made it a great experience to stay here. Nice little things like being able to use fridge, book swap, free water, help with excursions and lot of common areas with fans was a real plus. Dorms very spacious and clean, AC rooms great in particular.

United KingdomDutch Square Hostel is an absolutely stunning property. The interior makes you feel like you’ve entered a home not a hostel. It’s managed by amazing people who make each guest feel welcome. The rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious. The breakfast is included which is a bonus and it’s delicious! I ended up staying 2 weeks after staying just booking 1 night initially. After that I also returned. Highly recommend this place. You will get to experience real life in Alleppey.

AustraliaNothing in particular. Other reviews indicated mosquitos are around, they are. It’s not the properties fault.
Beautiful old home which has a great host in Danish and his team. Warm and welcoming throughout with lots of laughter. Breakfast each morning is to be looked forward and the experience of staying was lovely. I would gladly recommend this to family and friends. I stayed in a non AC Dorm and in the absence of high humidity in early February it was a comfortable nights sleep.
