Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaGorgeous place with its own beach & stunning sunsets each night. Pretty location among the palm trees & delicious home cooked meals daily. Very humble/rustic room which is what you’d expect on remote island. Shared bathroom option wasn’t much cheaper than bathroom option hut, probably should’ve taken that option. Cleaning of common shower could’ve been better & more hanging area for cloths in shower room & rooms. Difficult to charge devices in hut as PowerPoint up high in rooms & no shelf below to stow when charging really.Bed, futon, uncomfortable on cement base but as I said it’s remote island so can’t expect luxury at such prices in such places. Hosts could’ve been friendlier but feel they’re v busy!

NetherlandsThe communal toilet could be cleaner, the toilet seat and flush handle are quite dirty. The manager is quite reserved and not very cooperative.
The huts are nicely situated near the beach. The huts are quite basic, but there is a fan, mosquito net and a towel. There are reasonable mountain bikes (without gears) for rent for R150/day. The price of the huts is excellent. This also attracts special characters who stay there longer.

IndiaThat it is rustic means you have some compromises. But you will get behind it. The wifi was inconsistent though. And over here you have no cellar reception so be mindful.
Nice rustic place!

An amazing place to lay back and chill. I believe a lot of people return and stay for long periods so say no more. It's very basic but that's the appeal, the food is first class amazing value for money but not for you if you expect luxury. I loved it and would definitely stay again

Very peaceful, great for solo travellers / backpackers. Easy to meet fellow travellers. Tasty food and hygienic food. You'll be right by a beach where you can watch the sun set.

India- The internet is like this on the entire island: you'll get 4g as soon as you switch on data. Then, next moment, it'd be gone, although you hadn't moved an inch. This is for the entire neil island. I also saw a spider in the hut. But it's ok, since the structures are made of natural material and they get attracted to light. So i switched off the light and slept.
I wish i could've stayed longer. It's the best in neil island. - Sibankar was very helpful and a nice host. He is the head chef as well and knows many languages including french, russian, and spanish. - The food was good. Don't miss out on the seasonal fruits breakfast. It's 😋 - The entire place is amazing with more coconut trees than rooms. It's totally different from an ordinary hotel. - The beach is a one minute walk away, just behind the property. - Towel and mosquitoe nets are provided. - A common area where you can read books in multiple languages, play cards or uno cards, or just chat with the guests. - The place is eco-friendly with huts built from local natural material and the food menu hand-written on cute, small notebooks. Avoiding the ink, printing and lamination cost and resources. 100 points for this. - There was nice violin music played in the evening in the common room.

BelgiumThe beach at the property is not swimmable as it is full of dead coral.
The rooms were bungalows made of bamboo, and were really cozy. The bathrooms were very clean and the restaurant also had a decent menu. Also the owners were rather flexible with the absurdly early check-out time.

PolandI have been traveling around different countries for many months, but I have never experienced such rudeness and unwillingness to communicate normally before. Upon check-in, the owner informed me that he would take my passport because he needed to bring it to the police. I asked him to take a photo with his phone or make a copy instead, as I don’t want to hand over my passport to someone I don’t know for an extended period (I previously experienced an attempted passport theft in India and am cautious about such situations). The owner simply said that this was not enough, and in the end, he threw my passport and money in my direction, disregarding the confirmed reservation. In short, I was put in a very uncomfortable situation where the choice was either to hand over my passport or find another place to stay. Unfortunately, that is the atmosphere there... There were many other ways this could have been handled. If you expect a warm and welcoming vibe on a paradise island, this place might disappoint you. You may feel more like an intruder than a guest.

United KingdomNothing, I wouldn’t change anything.
Elephant was by far my favourite place I’ve ever stayed, anywhere, Shivanka the owner is an absolute pleasure to spend time with, knowledgable about everything on not only Neil Island but all of Andaman, helpful and a great cook, always suggested great places to visit and snorkel, told endless stories of growing up in Andaman and was knowledgeable about the history and tribes on other islands, he created the perfect environment to enjoy the island. The stay is a lovely beach bamboo hut just 1 minute walk from the beach, surrounded by coconut palms and shaded so never gets too hot, basic but clean and comfortable, close to nature and has the best snorkelling on the island at the back as long as you are a confident swimmer, everything I personally wanted from this stay. The resort is more of a homely hostel vibe with the perks of private huts, the location is central enough so that you can cycle to anywhere on the island. Jake from England.

United KingdomI was not happy with the room I was charged 1600 rupees the room had cockroaches crawling over us all night, my wife was terrified . He called me a liar about the cockroaches . I paid him in full 7168 rupees as he insisted but I am under the impression that I only need to pay 50% cancellation fee ? To get a receipt out of him was hard work. Then he said he couldn’t cancel the booking but he had cancelled a previous booking no problem. I booked this place in good faith because of the good reviews. I can only assume that they are fake. It’s on the beach but you can’t swim there too dangerous because of rocks the swimming is 15 minutes away across rough terrain. I got a much better room cheaper , cleaner and on the beach just down the road. Trust me avoid this man he’s a money grabber.
Nothing it was minging
