John's Homestay was ideally located, the family was so incredibly warm, attentive, and generous, and the room was one of the cleanest and most comfortable homestay rooms I have ever stayed at. Ali was particularly helpful and made the check-in process and acquiring an airport cab very easy. I was also feeling quite ill during my stay, and the hosts were very attentive to check in and also prepared a delicious, and nourishing meal that helped me recover. (Thank you so much, again!!!) For those considering the location, John's homestay is situated quite conveniently near Lal Chowk and Polo View Market, as well as to the airport. A short walk to the road makes acquiring a taxi, rickshaw, or uber very easy, and I even found it walkable to some cafes (Books & bricks, for ex). I also appreciated as a bonus, the very intense water pressure and water in the shower- a major, unexpected plus. I would definitely recommend this homestay to others!

Real home stay! We only met John and his son Ali, both made the stay very comfortable. Ali’s communication before, during and after the stay was great. Provided recommendations and car service to Gulmarg. Bed was comfortable with heated blanket and bathroom was exceptionally clean. Good breakfasts and nice to get to know the family

Everything was great!

Our stay at John's Homestay was so warm and heartwarming. The cozy comforts, like the reliable hot water and electric blankets, kept us toasty in the cool climate. But it was Ali's genuine hospitality that truly warmed our stay. He's a fantastic conversationalist and an invaluable resource for planning your Kashmiri adventures. I was impressed by his family's kindness too - when I couldn't find the key to my suitcase's lock, Ali's brother helped me break the lock. And there's a beautiful little tom cat, who is so friendly and cuddly! He was the cherry on top our cake during our stay here.  There's literally nothing bad I can say about this place. Everything was amazing! I recommend this place to all fellow travelers.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at John's Homestay! Initially booked for one night, I ended up extending my stay for another night. The homestay offered excellent amenities, including hot water showers and electric blankets for cozy warmth. They also offer bike rentals, and I took Royal Enfield Himalayan for a fantastic day trip to Sonamarg.

Small suggestion: maybe electric heater could be provided during winter, but during the night electric blankets will keep you warm just fine!

Ali and his wonderful family are amazing hosts and will make you feel at home. Ali speaks flawless English and helps you with planning your trip in Kashmir. Rooms are cozy and clean. Electric blankets are provided during winter time.

For ₹699 I got Heated bed and highly cleaned bathroom with hot shower. Highly attentive host, he helped me by picking me up on saying that the autos are charging higher prices. Therefore it's highly recommended.

From the moment we arrived, John Uncle’s warm and welcoming demeanor made us feel right at home. He went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and stress-free. Ali, his son, is equally amazing. He’s also an expert when it comes to planning tours across Jammu & Kashmir. He took the time to help us craft an itinerary that balanced famous spots with hidden gems, ensuring we could experience the true essence of the region on our next trip and the current one was on a no plan basis. He also provides a bike rental service (a great way to explore Srinagar and beyond!). Their genuine care and effort in making our trip memorable stood out throughout. Laundry cost and taxi fees were a bit expensive

Very friendly host, always willing to assist with whatever you need very quickly. Place is a bit out of the way, but quiet and still easily accessible to places around Srinagar. Shower got very warm very quickly!

When I arrived at the hostel I was nicely welcomed by Ali. He and his family made me felt welcomed from the first second. Rooms are really good and clean and Ali will provide you with everything needed. He also helps you with planning your trip and can recommend things to do in Srinagar. Very recommended place to stay if you ever come to Srinagar!!

I wouldn't have experienced the magic of Srinagar the way I did without staying at John's Homestay. Ali and his family are incredibly kind and helpful. As soon as I checked in Ali helped me form a plan so I could make the most of my time in the region — we did a day hike up in the mountains (travelling on the motorbike) which I highly recommend if you have the time! The room was perfect, super clean and spacious. If you're new to home-stays or weighing up options in Srinagar I would strongly suggest you book here. Can't wait to head back...
