Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The staff, especially David, were gracious, hospitable and helpful. Location is a 5-10 minute walk to The Ganges. Plenty of restaurants, cafes and yoga studios nearby. The Room was comfortable and clean. Including Aircon and curtains.

The hostel is situated opposite balaknath temple road you have to walk a little. Rooms were clean and beds were super comfortable. The only problem was there if you want to fill your waterbottle you have to go to the ground floor every time and due to poor ventilation it is a bit difficult without an AC but they have AC's so it was not a big problem. Otherwise everything was really good and the place has a terrace which is a great place to pass time.

-the most disturbing thing was the bed sounds, i was on the upper bed and every breath i take was moving the bed and disturbing the roommate on the lower bed.. -No AC, the room was really big and only one big window beside one bed, but there were two small fans on the wall. Can't imagine how it would be in the summer. - first day i checked in early, i got a bed which they didn't say that the bed sheet is not changed yet! I realized later.They should tell me when they came after checkout time. I asked to change the quilt as it smelled bad, but i didn't think they didn't change the bed sheet before they gave me!! - don't expect socializing with other guests. No one was on the rooftop even when there was an event "fire" to warm (although weather was warm enough)
Location is good, you go down 3 streets to reach -staff is very helpful and friendly, thanks Saurav :) -good value for money

The roof was a lot of time dirty when I wanted to do some yoga in the morning. Would be nice if that’s clean for the morning people who want to start the day🙏

Staff here are so so helpful. Ready to help at all times, no matter what the problem is. We had a very delayed train and missed a bus and they organised transport for us from Delhi- before we had even met them! Good air con in the rooms, curtains around the beds, comfy beds and cute rooftop too!

Cafe needs a big makeover. The food was decent but highly overpriced.
Good clean dorms. 8 bed dorm had 2 washrooms which is really good. Super friendly staff. Devang and Vikram were super cool. This has to be one of the best staff i have encountered in my 6 stays at a hostel. Met a lot of cool people.

Breakfast (we had included breakfast) was a bit poor. In general the cafe seems to be a bit pricy for the stuff that is offered there.
Very nice hosting and we got everything we needed from the guys at the reception. They were really nice and helped with everything.

I really like the vibes there, every time I go to Rishikesh I stop in Joey's hostel, it's a good way to meet people. I'm happy that most of the time I've met a good team. The staff is really nice and they will try to help you if you need. Thank you to Ankit, he is always smiling, and when I was a bit ill for a few days, he was thoughtful and asked me if I needed anything don't hesitate to ask him. Some of them seem a bit cold at first, but when you talk to them they're really nice. I like the location, it's in the middle between the Ganga and upper Tapovan. I tried different rooms, dorms and private rooms, I like some of them more than others, but in general it's good value for money. They also organize some activities

I recently stayed at Joey’s Hostel for a week and had a fantastic experience. The staff(Ankit, vikrant etc) were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready to help with a smile. The hostel itself has a vibrant and welcoming vibe that made my stay very enjoyable. The common areas were great for meeting fellow travelers, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and fun. I highly recommend Joey’s Hostel to anyone looking for a comfortable and lively place to stay.
