We spent 4 nights at Palace on the Steps. The rooms are small and basic but the location for the price is unbeatable. Being able to watch ghat life on the Ganges from your room balcony or the rooftop terrace is incredible. The food at the restaurant was also great. The hotel is hard to find - and contacting the hotel to organise assistance on arrival was tricky - but it is worth persevering. Staff were friendly and helpful.

During the hindufestival it was to much pollution. Staff was great and helpfull. Room was not so clean. Better to use water with soap than only the brush...! Breakfast ok, and of course.. awsome view to ganges.

Access to hotel is difficult especially if you have luggage, hotel helps with luggage and pick up room and toilet sizes are very small

Location and proximity to key places

Fantastic location with nice view of Ganga river. Good and adequate breakfast. Friendly staff and very helpful. They arranged for early morning Darshan of Lord Vishwanath.

Newer 'Looking' bed linen. They were fresh, but did not look fresh.

You will need help finding the hotel. Call and have someone pick you up from the hotel . YOU WILL GET LOST. Navigation does not work in the little streets .

The location of this hotel is excellent overlooking the ganga river . The staff in the hotel were so kind and helpful with everything and they really looked after us well. The food is good .

The rooms are a little small and weren't the cleanest. The building itself was a little run down but the staff and location make up for this.

This is a great hotel if you are on a budget and want to be close to the Ghats. The location and views of the Ghats and river are exceptional. It also has a good restaurant. The staff are also excellent and extremely helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Booked after going thru available reviews here and on Google. The reviews were pretty much accurate about both the highlights and the low points.. Location and views are just mesmerizing for the river facing rooms and totally worth the price. The restaurant is also nice, the menu options may be limited but are served well. The rooms are neat and clean otherwise, but may disappoint if u have high expectations. Took spare bedsheet and blanket with us after reading other reviews but did not find the need to use them after all. Do call the hotel before check in for making your life easy while finding its location for first timers. They are glad to help you anyways.. In short, the hotel stays true to its words, "Live like a Benarsi"

Prices have been increased quite a lot.

The location of this hotel is wonderful. Food is good and staff is very cooperative. They guided in arranging for pooja in morning. This was my second visit in this hotel. I had a good stay.
