Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. GermanyThere is no AC. Just a fan. We didnt need it and we didnt miss it. But if you are used to AC and you need the room always to be very cold than this might noz be your first choice.
Its a very old house inside the fort (haveli). The original family still owns the house and rent some rooms/suites to travellers. The family is super nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay in this local place in the fort a lot. Breakfast was also very tasty (pancakes available). If we can, we will come back.

United StatesIt's really hot in Jaisalmer, even in October and there's no aircon, only 1 fan in the room.
The family running the place is very friendly. The room is very nice, the building is impressive and worth checking out as it's one of the oldest in Jaisalmer. Internet was pretty good and drinking water available.

United KingdomNothing. It was all superb.
Hotel Suraj has been my favourite stay in India, it is a beautiful haveli and my lovely room had a stunning view over the Chandraprabhu Jain Temple. Gokul and his son Shubam have been so welcoming, even inviting me to watch the cricket with them on their TV! Shubam took me on a tour of the town and is so knowledgeable and interesting. He is the eighteenth generation of his family to live in the haveli and it was a privilege to stay there and be shown around by him.

IndiaThe location in the heart of the fort is perfect. The haveli is magnificent, the rooms spacious and still decorated with ancient murals from 500 years ago. The staff (the same family that build the haveli 500 years ago) are very professional, know the history of the place perfectly and are happy to share it.

VietnamSince it is an old Havelli we didn't expect modern facilities such as nice bathroom equipment, aircon system, or shining floor… We appreciate that they keep it this way as part of stepping back in time.
It is a beautiful 500 year old Havelli located directly at the top of the Fort with stunning views of Jain Temples from the room and to the city from 2 rooftop terraces. The host family is very proud of their home's history. Shabham gave us a free 4-hour tour around the Fort and willingly explained everything we wanted to know about their Havelli and about Jaisalmer. The best devoted tour guide we have ever known. We stayed in the King‘s suite, in which the king used to meet with his advisors. The family's founding father was one of the King’s advisors centuries ago. Our spacious room has the original decor from the past with unique arches and special ink paintings on the walls. They arranged a wonderful desert Safari with authentic local camel-ride guides. We literally spent a night out in a thousand-star hotel. (Yes, sleeping on a very simple iron bed in the middle of the desert under the Milky Way without a tent. So take the insect repellent with you if you don’t want many small harmless flies to bother you at dusk and dawn). The guides cooked a plain dinner for us. The long camel rides were truly an amazing experience. I believe that all the reviews about this hotel are true (not like many fake ones of many hotels in India). To Shabham: We had a really great time with you! Did your father make decision about raising your wages and rewards?

AustraliaThere was no air con and the nights were warm. Wouldn’t be a problem in October to December .
It’s a 500 year old havali within the only living fort in India. It was like staying in a house museum which had been loving maintained and modernised as little as possible. Our host Shubhan was wonderfully attentive. His family also lived in the building. His mother and sister in law were the chefs. It was truly an unique experience.

ItalyWe loved everything. Being an historical building there is no AC, but fan and evening breeze provide a comfortable temperature
Small hotel in the Fort, with stunning view on the Jain Temples. The ancient Havelis are still housing the same family, and Shubham - the owner' son - took care of us with great hospitality and generosity. We slept in the beautiful junior suite, a charming room with pillars and arches and a fantastic balcony overlooking the temples. This Is a place of unrivalled beauty!

NetherlandsSince it is an old Havelli you shouldn't expect a modern bathroom.
It is a beautifull 500 years old Havelli and we had a beautifull room. The father and son who are leading the hotel will do really everything to help you. The son gave us a free tour in the fort.

Beautiful authentic place. Spacious rooms, amazing location inside the fort. Shubham was a wonderful guide of the fort, very patient and always available and kind. Helped us so much on a health emergency and we could truly trust him. Nice breakfast to the room on selected time, lots of privacy and respect. Was lovely meeting the family and beautiful hotel❤️🐫

United KingdomLow water pressure, very basic bathroom (part of the stepping back in time, I guess). In April, it was too hot without ac though their was a nice breeze in the evening/overnight
Lovely traditional property - feels like stepping back in time. Family are very proud of their home and its history and want to share this with guests. Also very friendly and helpful with anything you need - they booked me a tuktuk and walked me to meet it for my late night train.

GermanyThat we had to leave. ;-)
What an awesome place!! Not only that this 500 year old building is beautiful - the owners are also awesome. You come as tourists and leave like friends. Our room (1st floor with the balcony) had the original decor from the past and was very spacious and clean. They also have 2 rooftop-terraces with a great view over Jaisalmer and next to a temple. From one you can see the sunrise and from the other the sunset. The Non-Touristic Desert Safari they offer is just wonderful. The SafariGuides are authentic. If I ever come back to Jaisalmer, I would definitely stay here again!

This Haveli belongs to the nicest family that took such good care of us during our stay. Everything was just perfect! From the rooms to the breakfast. You can feel that they take much pride in their beautiful Haveli and their city and they want you to have the best experience possible. They helped us with organising a desert safari (which was amazing, would definitely recommend!) and the son of the family took me on a tour around the fort for 3 hours, without wanting anything for it. When my partner was sick, they let us stay in the room a few hours past check-out so he could rest a bit. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Jaisalmer!

FranceI came 32 years ago and again this year. Suraj hasn’t lost its magic! It can be noisy with all the weddings and traffic below in town so earplugs are a good idea!
it’s a uniquely special 500 year old property run by an equally special family. if you can, book the Maharajas room for something special, but just being in the the oldest havali at the top of the fort is WAY better than staying down in the urban sprawl outside. After all, you came to Jaisalmer to visit its fort, so stay right up in the heart of it! You’ll NEVER forget this place!
