United StatesWifi is non existent - so do not stay here if you wish to do any remote work or even check your email. No help from the hotel. TVs advertised in the room did not work, and no help was provided by the reception. You are paying for these two amenities, however. The room was not clean in 4 star standards. Lots of mosquitoes and smell of open drain!? The hotel did provide a plug-in to repel mosquitoes, which helped a bit. However, mosquitoes were too much, and too many. In room dining is a joke! Staff are untrained. Food takes an extremely long time. Staff is too eager for tips. Check-in was good and painless (Ms. Sushma). Check out, however, was a nightmare of 32 minutes. The reception clerk (D) did not want to listen and managed to get my cc locked (fraud sustected by the bank). This hotel needs vast improvement to even come close to its neighbouring hotels (The Grand, Lalit Great Eastern, etc.) in meeting 4 star standard. At best it's an overpriced 2 star. The Aheli restaurant is the best part of this hotel. I will gladly wait until the Grand Hotel renovation is complete before I visit Kolkata again. Not returning to Peerless!
Location. Aheli restaurant and tea house coffee shop. Some staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The suite that I upgraded to was great. The view was superb. There is plenty of room to have guests visits. Breakfast was fine. It's pretty much the same spread every morning.

United KingdomVery horrible experience. They checked us in a smaller room while we have booked a suite. We had to complain to get room changed as per the booking. During breakfast, they said breakfast is not part if the scheme in-front of all people when we gad already booked room inclusive of breakfast. This was very embarrassing and staff was not cordial. At checkout, our luggage was missing as the hotel staff had sent it to done other room. It was quite a hassle to get luggage back as we were in a rush to board our train. Overall , a very unpleasant experience.

Excellent service from all Hotel staff. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was great. The onsite bar is unique and welcoming. Wonderful location for shopping in New Market.

Great location of the hotel. The room was of good size. It has all the amenities needed and service was great. Best thing I would say to try Aaheli which I would recommend for Bengali cuisine.
