If they do clean the kitchen after people finish their meals. Spraying cleaning products at the table when you have your food on the table is pretty strange.

Very nice receptionist. She is very helpful and informative. The room is clean and spacey. You have a mirror and the hair dryer in the room ++. Well organized kitchen that has everything you need. Walkable distance to city. I will recommend this hostel to friends.

The only not so good thing is code locker, maybe when you wake up in the middle of the night for visiting toilette, it's not the first thing you have in your mind to remember the code from the room, it's quite impossible to enter if you forget it :) there's no staff around in the late afternoon or evening/night.

one of the bathrooms had the toilet almost in the shower, but the others were ok.

Staff was friendly, helped sort out a mix up with our room late at night. Also good that we could self- check in, as we arrived very late. gave advice on what to see in north Iceland. Good breakfast!

The twin room with the private bathroom is smaller than the rooms without a private bathroom, so, with hindsight, I would have preferred one of the rooms without the private bathroom.

The manager at the reception (who is the granddaughter of the people who founded this family-run hostel in 1967!) was super friendly and helpful. The facility is absolutely spotless, and the kitchen well organized to accommodate multiple guests cooking at once. The dining area is very spacious as well. We stayed three nights in a Twin Bed room with private bathroom, but the shared bathrooms were so clean and private (one person at a time), that I would not hesitate to stay in a room that shares a bathroom the next time I stay here. When the staff were cleaning rooms in the morning, I peaked in the doorways of several rooms that did not have a shared bathroom and was very impressed to see that they all had a private sink and either a table and chairs or a sofa for hanging out. The facility also has a spacious shared lounge. The location was excellent: just a three-minute walk to the Bonus grocery store and a five-minute drive to the botanical garden, municipal pool, and downtown/harbor area. Akureyri is a great small city with loads of museums. Reception at the Hostel is great about providing info to activities in the area. We had a great stay in this fine hostel (the best we've ever stayed in in Europe or Australia) and will definitely be back!

Can't choose your roommates, but that is absolutely not the hostel's fault

The room we stayed in was massive, we had 8 beds, but there was a table in the middle, and it was absolutely lovely. The shared kitchen was clean and everyone had a little basket for their food. The staff was very helpful, and the check-in was easy! Also, the price reductions for certain activities was welcomed:)

There were no curtains for privacy, and the multi-tab to charge your devices were shared among 2 beds, which was not enough.

The hostel provided me all information in detail for self checkin and all other information needed to stay. There were enough parking spaces for numbers of cars to be parked in. Place was quiet with personal locker connected to checkout which felt very logical and systematic.

I thought a lend of a free towel would have been nice. Perhaps would have been good if rheybhsd late night staff for people checking in late.

Close to the center of Akureyri the hostel is incredibly clean with a cooking kitchen big and fully equipped for cooking or for a simple breakfast . The Staff is very gentle and the self check-in give you a lot of flexibility.

Stayed in an ensuite room at the hostel as we had a quick one night stop in Akureyri and it was excellent. Really clean, well equipped kitchen and the room was perfect for our stay. Being able to store and cook food was excellent. Of course less comforts it being a hostel, but excellent value for the price. Was our cheapest night in Iceland by far!

Would be great if there is a shelf or box in the kitchen for fellow travellers to share free food items (eg: cooking oil, extra pasta, seasonings, sauces, etc).
