The hostel is not located properly "downtown" but only a short distance from the city centre and there is a bus stop (for busses from and to the city centre) in the main street right in front of the hostel (entrance to the hostel from the side street). Very nice and clean common space (lounge and kitchen). Nice and clean shared bathrooms. City busses are free of charge in the Akureryi city area.

their keypad system for getting in is way too complicated. ourselves and other customers were locked out a few times. also it says you will receive an email from the company a day before you arrive with check in instructions and NOT to use the code and instructions sent from booking.com. we arrived, i received no email from them. i tried to contact the property with no reply. we wait in the lobby, after someone let us in. staff arrives later and looks surprised that they have guests. then it turned out that the code that booking.com sent me was the code to use and that i would not receive an email.

The hostel has a very clinical feel..The kitchen area is too small to cater for the amount of guests it holds. We had a room with 4 single beds and my bed was super uncomfortable so had to take an extra mattress from the other bed and put in top You have to make your own bed and take off the sheets and take them to the laundry. The WiFi isn't great.

Our room was tucked away at the back of the hostel so it was very quiet. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and warm and the shower was great. Plenty of space and good parking easy access and easy to get in and out of the city from. Easy check in.

I think they need to replace the bed. There was some problem with the bed. It was a bit noisy while sleeping.

The door needs attention as it is off center - had to slam the door to close it = waking everyone up just to go to the toilet. That aside, all doors were generally loud and you could hear everyone coming and going from their rooms. A second pillow per bed would be amazing.

Kitchen was great, beds were comfy and having a sink in the bedroom is super handy!

No one was available when I had an issue. Someone was asleep in my assigned bed and no one answered the phone or responded to email for several hours. So check in was poor. They blamed it on the answering service and took no responsibility for that. So it did get better after that awful experience.

It was clean and the kitchen was well suited to the needs of travelers. Bonus grocery store was nearby. The bus was near, too, but only once an hour.

Door code in the first floor was wrong number. No one answered. Door code in the Second floor didn't ork. More guests complained about it. Too narrow showers and disgusting. Loud area. Linen has to put on the blanket by yourself (should be included in this price range). Curtains couldn't really dark the room, it was too bright during the night.

That there are only single beds, no double ones, the beds could have been more comfortable, and there could also have been 1-2 extra pillows in the room so you could sleep with 2 pillows if needed. The floors were very creeky, and you would hear people stomping all around the clock. Floors are often wet in the bathroom, and you get your socks wet every time you go to the bathroom since you're not allowed to wear shoes inside.

The sink in the room, that the room and beds were clean, and the little communication we had with the staff was decent.

The radiator in our room didn't work properly so it was very cold. We only stayed for one night so we didn't contact anyone about that.

Good location, nice room and comfortable beds, common areas were very clean. The price is very good of what it offers :)

The kitchen was big, comfortable and super clean. It had four showers on my floor but only two toilets, which doesn't seem enough if the place is full. Beds were comfy. The owner and her daughter were super friendly.

The check in. We had some problem with payment, after we solved that problem, we told the lady, that we are standing right in front of the building, so if she can send us the code etc., she said, that it comes automatically after the payment. We waited for almost an hour, but the code still didn’t come. So I called again, if she can send us the informations. If I didn’t call back again, the info automatically came almost after 2 to 3hours after the payment. Also the list of rules was quite a surprise, never experienced that before and I travel a lot.
