Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Be aware that water reeks of sulfur. However it is Iceland after all, and you’d probably pay extra for the mineral water elsewhere. Also, the steam from the shower can set off the smoke alarm (guess how we know), so be sure to open the window in the bathroom when showering.
Rustic cabin with ample space and kitchen with full dinnerware and utensils. Two hot plates and microwave. Nice bathroom and nice towels. Close to gorgeous waterfalls and areas like Gjain. Almost the last lodging before trek to Landmannalaugar and reasonably priced for that proximity. Nice views of Hekla volcano. Hot tub that we were too tired to use because of our successful hiking days! Owner came by to deliver receipt and check on us.

We booked this family room specifically because it had a washer and dryer…however, no one, even the host, could figure out how to dry (even extensive internet searches) and we ended up having to hang our wet clothes. Needed more instructions on how to use everything to save a bit of frustration😀 Lack of towels…one bath towel for each of us only: no small face towel or floor/rug so floors were wet and slippery for use.
Loved the two separate bedrooms. We did have a few issues trying to figure out a few things but host was always available. I was not familiar with this type of entry door, learning experience, but to lock it, you have to lift the handle up! If you want to use the hot tub, there are instructions to fill it yourself…another learning experience! Also no instructions on how to use the convection stove/oven…

Perfect spot to explore the south west away from the golden circle. Very nice host with good recommendations. Hot tub that was waiting for us. Very comfy atmosphere inside and amazing view of the surroundings and volcano

We stayed 2 nights in June. It was great for access to Landmannalaugar , with a breathtaking view of Hekla. And a hot tub in front of the decking. It is like a mountain hut style accommodation with bunk beds which would suit a family of 4 - modernised to a high standard with some tasteful touches. We loved the flowers in the pot outside. We loved the feeling of isolation with stunning views and particularly like that the owner stopped by to check all was ok and to have a chat.

This location really appealed to our family. It was out in the middle of no where, with cows and calfs out the front door. The hot tub was much appreciated. Only 26 kms from Haifoss.

It would be perfect if it offers made up beds, a floor towel and a hairdryer. I was cut by a sharp screw in the top bunk and the staff promised to fix it.

Really nice and lovely cottage :-) we cooked pasta an found everthing we needed for cooking. We definitly would book this accomodation again :-)

The two cabins are located in a quiet area with a beautiful view. The interior was as described, we did not miss anything. Everything was very clean and we felt very comfortable. The host even came by personally to bring the receipt and we had a nice chat. Check-in was via a key box and super easy. Also using the hottub was very uncomplicated. We would definitely come back again and stay here!

Our host was very friendly, the location was perfect, an incredible view to wake up to. It was nice to relax in the hot tub with the view as well.

There were no shelves....would have been nice to have some to store clothes or some little things...
Kitchen was well equipped. I liked that it was lots of hooks everywhere to hang clothes, etc. It could have been nice to have small plates as well...There are big plates for dinner, bowls for cereal, etc. but no small plates for your toasts or some little snacks, veggies... Bathroom was great. nice shower.
