Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyThe only downside was that we had booked a room with two separate beds, but we were given one with a very narrow double bed instead, which wasn’t ideal for us.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay at Downtown Guesthouse Reykjavik. The location is absolutely fantastic—right in the heart of the city, just steps from Lækjartorg Square and the Laugavegur shopping street. It’s perfect for exploring Reykjavik on foot, with restaurants, bars, and tour pick-up points all within easy reach. Wi-Fi worked perfectly throughout our stay, and the self check-in process was smooth and convenient.

United KingdomThe keys for all rooms were available to everyone, nothing was labelled with names as had been stated, we had requested and had a twin room approved but there were no twin rooms, only double and single room keys. Where there are no staff available after 2pm there wasn’t anyone to ask, we had had a flight cancelled and a long day so we chose not to worry about messaging on the day.
Location is super central, easy to do self check in to the building with the code provided via message, nice to have access to a kitchen

United KingdomThe room did not match the description. It stated a kitchenette and streaming services, which were both not true. There are no tvs in the building, and the "kitchenette" was a kettle, a few tea bags, no mugs or glasses, and no convenient plug socket to boil water anyway. Also, there was a sign in the room saying not to consume food or drink in the room! Only 1 pillow too which was not enough
Spacious room, nice building full of character and fabulous location

New ZealandAlthough the location was great for transport, walking around the city sites and places to go out, the downside of that is the rooms over the looking the road (like mine) were also very noisy from the music from bars and clubs around it. Be sure to take earplugs!
Great location right by one of the shuttle bus pick up points which was perfect for what I needed. Also easy to walk around the central city and see the main sights by foot. Clean and convenient. Did not see any staff but had all the information I needed to get in and find my way around.

United KingdomThe first time we stayed, it was the Reykjavik marathon weekend. As a result, the road outside was closed, as was Bus Stop 3, which meant we had to carry our heavy bags some distance to a temporary bus stop. The second time we stayed, everything was back to normal. We've stayed in a room at the back which is very quiet, and a room at the front, which can be noisy due to people entering and leaving the nearby bar and nightclub. The curtain in this room was very thin, allowing light from the street light outside to come into the room all night. On our second stay, we arrived in the early hours, and there was some confusion in finding our room. Now we understand the system, we will not have a problem if we stay again.
Bus Stop 3 is located in front of this Guesthouse which is ideal for international airport transfers, especially if you have large bags or arriving/leaving at unusual times. It is also located next to the main shopping street, with a 24/7 small but well-stocked modern supermarket nearby. There are also bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity, and it's less than a 10-minute walk to Reykjavik's fantastic theatre. The Guesthouse is clean and tidy and there are also two well-equipped and clean kitchens.

United KingdomMain issue we had when we were there was the bar next door playing music really loud via an outdoor speaker - on a Thursday night was the worst. Shower leaked but that’s minor. Other guests would not lock the property door to the apartment area which is just a safety concern so would suggest changing to an auto lock door.
It was in a good location and the room was clean, owners responsive via booking.com too. Great location for the marathon and festival. Clear instructions too.

CanadaIt needed upgrading and our room had a funny smell, one of the outlets in the bathroom didn’t work and the kitchen was great because the microwave didn’t work, I could hear noises coming from the electrical panel, so I think it needed some service. Also, I asked for two single beds facing the front of the building and I got one bed on the back of the building. I booked six months in advance.
I liked the location

United StatesBe prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs. Not much they can do about that but just a warning. The WiFi is spotty and would drop often.
The location was exceptional! Walking distance to the cities main attractions. For tours there is bus stop#3 right out front which made pick super easy. It was a great value for the location. Never had an issues with getting bathroom time. The property was clean.

AustraliaI have no complaints.
The location is excellent and just near the Nordic Store on the corner, just a few steps away from Bus Stop Number 3 (it's to the left of The Downtown Bar but if you go past the Messinn Seafood restaurant a few metres away, you've gone too far) which the one to ask for when you travel from the BSI terminal. The room I had (number 17) was next door (brown door) to the door you have to go through to check (yellow door) in along with 18-20 and the two apartments (which is where 1-16 is). I was very happy with my room and the facilities and the communication via the message option through booking.com was very prompt and helpful. Stay went without a hitch.

United StatesWe asked for a queen size bed originally, but got basically just two small beds pushed together which was not what we had asked for. There is no parking near the house, but a public garage nearby.
The location of this guesthouse was awesome! Everything was in walking distance regarding downtown Reykjavik and the harbor. There was a kitchen on the top floor where we could store our food.
