We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United StatesThere is 1 shared bathroom per floor and the sink, toilet and shower are in 1 place. Very hard to brush my teeth. Bathroom was not as clean as other guesthouses.
This guesthouse was in a great location. Walk to rainbow street and other restaurants in the area. Can park at meters close by. Rooms were large with storage.

United StatesThe worst part and unbeknownst to me when booking, was that it was on the third floor of a walk-up with very steep stairs to climb. The room was small and was in desperate need of refreshing, with one twin bed. The bed linens and towel were cheap and worn. There was only one overhead light in the entire room. I stayed two nights and paid over $300 in USD.
It’s location. And Delve, who assisted me with my luggage, was awesome!

United StatesWe were unable to get Wi-Fi in our room. We would have to go out in the hall to the top of the stairs. This was a big inconvenience. Also, it was very confusing about our room. We didn’t see the note about some rooms being next door until after we carried all of our luggage up three flights. The note was in a rather high counter which was difficult to see.

United StatesRoom was very basic and overpriced even by Iceland standards. Shower floor was dangerously slippery and sink was not properly designed as you would hit your head on the glass shelf if you washed your face over sink. Unless you have a car, there is nothing commercial nearby.
The staff were responsive and provided information on local bus from airport that saved money from extremely expensive taxi ride.

GermanyLocated right on the edge of the main shopping street, around the corner from the parliament and the Settlement Museum, and walking distance to the harbor, this is a great location if you're wandering around Reykjavik or heading off on bus day trips. Some reviews mentioned a fish smell from the restaurant, but it's the pleasant smell of home cooking and just added to the experience. The blackout curtain and the soft bed with super clean sheets made it easy to sleep, even in summer.

GermanyThe guesthouse contacted me after my work trip to say that I hadn't paid for the stay. I contacted booking.Com to ask for advice on the payment steps, which I repeated to the guesthouse. Booking also said they contacted the guesthouse. Even though I keep asking the guesthouse to send me a bill so that I can make the payment for this work trip, the only thing they do is ask if I've paid. I cannot make the payment without the payment details. I'm not sure why the guesthouse cannot understand this, and it is getting very frustrating to receive their messages. I hope this will be cleared up soon.
The location was perfect, the room was big and the shared bathroom was clean. I didn't use the kitchen, it is on the top floor and was well- equipped. I didn't see the staff at all, so I cannot comment on that.
