Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe room was described in the Booking.com listing as having a city view. However, the two rooms that I stayed in were at the rear of the hotel and overlooked a courtyard surrounded by what appeared to be views of apartment blocks. This may be confusion between the hotel and Booking.com as to what types of room are being available; if so, the discrepancy needs to be corrected. It didn't seem right to make an issue of this at the time, having already been moved to a new room! The area was a bit noisy on the Saturday night/early hours of Sunday from some people walking through the city centre after a night out, but this had already been identified in reviews on other hotels in the area that were featured on Booking.com and was therefore not a surprise.
There were a couple of technical issues identified in my room after my first night staying at the Centrum, which were quickly, helpfully and generously sorted out for me for the remaining two nights by moving me to a better room. Friendly service from the staff. Very good breakfast with lots of variety. Very welcoming and comfortable bar area, with meals available. Very good location in the centre of Akureyri, close to shops, bars, eateries etc. A five minute walk from the Hof concert hall (which was also where the stop for the airport bus is located), and in the other direction to the very distinctive mid-20th century church. About twenty minutes' walk to the Gleraraug shopping mall. And don't forget to take the opportunity to go whale-watching on the fjord and obviously make the most of any opportunity to see the Northern Lights.

United KingdomThe beat of the music from the downstairs bar could be easily heard, it didn't stop us sleeping though.
An alright room above a decent bar with friendly staff that does nice food. They have a small separate kitchen area off the landing for tea/coffee plus microwave etc to allow a slightly broader range of self-catering food options than most hotels.

GuamI wouldn't recommend staying on a weekend, we stayed Fri-Mon and both Friday and Saturday nights were very loud until about 2am with people yelling in the streets, drinking downtown, and cars racing one another. Sunday night was very quiet and peaceful though. We stayed during fall so the curtains weren't too much of an issue, but I don't think this location would work for spring/summer when there is sunshine most of the day as they do not block out light and the room is really bright even with the curtains drawn. The elevator is really fickle and sounds like it is in need of repair and the door would often open and shut multiple times and taking a very long time to get going; we just started taking the stairs to avoid it. Parking can be hit or miss, but be aware there is no hotel parking only paid street parking. The shower is open concept and water got all over the bathroom floor after every shower.
The room was a good size, very spacious, and had some kitchen amenities which was helpful. The balcony was really nice to look over the main street. The water from the tap was ice cold and perfectly drinkable! The bed was comfortable. The location was VERY central for walking to so many locations.

United StatesIt seems to be more of a thing I've seen in Iceland compared to Centrum Hotel, but there was not hair conditioner or lotion available in our room. The shower a tad small, but the water pressure was great!
Great location in town which made it easy to walk around and see the sights. Rooms were clean..I requested our rooms be next to each other and they accommodated our request. A nice, quaint place to stay!
