Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe check in process was a little strange, we had to wait several minutes for people waiting for the bar/dining room to be seated. The street in front of the hotel was closed the day we got there, so it was also confusing to get there since we couldn't turn down the street in the directions given. Also, the kitchen closed a little early for us but the recommendation from a staff member for other dining options were excellent.
The room was really nice! Very walkable to many places around town as well.

United StatesNo TV, 4 channels of Icelandic radio, I think. I like to watch local news when I travel to get a sense of the city/country I am visiting as well as to see how the US is portrayed in their news media. I wasn't able to do this here.
This hotel is located in central Akureyri so we were able to park our rental car and walk everywhere, which I like. There is a bar/restaurant on street level and, for the most part, we heard none of it beyond murmured conversation. We stayed for 2 nights so that we could drive to Husavik for whale watching. Being only an hour away it was convenient. There are a ton of different restaurants to check out in this city so I would recommend walking the streets. Also, free washer/dryer on the 2nd floor - just bring detergent.

IcelandThis is a very noisy accommodation on the weekend and you can expect to be listening to party music coming from the bar downstairs into the morning hours. I feel like this should be mentioned to the customers when booking as it is impossible to get to sleep before 2AM.

A wonderful base in Akureyri! It’s right in the downtown with many dining and window shopping options around. The staff is lovely and check in/check out is super easy. Also we loved the beds and the pillows! They are super comfy and we had a wonderful rest.

United StatesThe room was a good size, and it worked out well for a family of four. The extra bed was a sofa bed, which wasn't the most comfortable but was very convenient. The bathroom and kitchenette were clean. The location is great, right downtown and close to the harbor, restaurants, and shops. I was a little worried about the front desk also being the bar to the restaurant, but it worked out well and the employees were helpful. We were there on a Monday night, so there wasn't much noise but there was food smell from the restaurant/bar on the first floor, which other reviewers mentioned.

NetherlandsAkureyri is a lovely town in Northern Iceland, we specifically stayed here because we wanted to go whale watching. The hotel is part of a very nice bar / restaurant, where in the morning the breakfast was served. It was a pity we had to leave so soon in the morning, it would have been a pleasure to stay a bit long, both in Akureyri ánd in the Center Hotel!

United StatesNo reception staff to check-in. You have to go into the bar next door and check in at the bar. So if the bar is closed later at night, you're out of luck. There isn't anyone there to contact if you have any questions. They give a phone, but good luck No parking for the hotel in a very crowded older neighborhood/business area that seemed run down. You have to park in a paid public parking lot. but after 6 pm it's free. You must carry all you stuff a bit of a walk to the entrance. If you want to park after 10am in the parking the next morning, you have to pay.
We spent the night here. Luckily we arrived while the attached bar/restaurant staff were still there. They don't have a 24 hour reception, so if you arrive the bar is closed you can't get your room key. You need that key to get in off the street. The hotel is very tricky to find using Google maps. It's on an inner business street with limited vehicle access. Not the most attractive neighborhood. But the inner hotel was clean and our room was clean. Breakfast was included at their attached restaurant and was very good. We felt it was overpriced for the location and lack of staff to assist.

NorwayTV! So we had huge, probably 60" TV, which didn't have any TV channel. We tried to hook up our netflix and Apple TV but no luck. Really annoying since TV has option for this but apparently hotel management decided not to allow guests to use it.
Very specious and clean room. Lot of utensils and there is even small kitchen in the hall so you can prepare yourself cup of tea or coffee. There is a fridge too so you can have your beer perfectly chilled. Super fast WiFi!
