Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The mobile key system wasn't working as flawlessly as it should for us; we got a new set of keys by mistake on the second day, and on one of the evenings the keys didn't work on the hotel entrance so we had to call to be let in - all of these were very promptly and easily solved by the staff on call / email, so it's not really a complaint, just a note.
Hotel is in the best (imo) part of Akureyri - close to several great pubs and restaurants, and some of the major attractions in the city. It's clean and comfy, and close to a paid parking (on the next street). The room was large, and the bathroom is spacious. Their email/online reachout is very thorough, and any issues we had with the mobile key were sorted quickly.

There was no parking on site so this would be a problem on weekdays - fortunately we were at the weekend.

we booked last minute and almost missed the check in window, but it ended up being ok. however, our room did not have any towels :( i searched for towels on the property and looked for a person to help me, but no luck. I also messaged the property twice but got no reply. we ended up showering with no towels.

There wasn't any water boiler/kettle for coffee or tea in the room, only in the common area. Toilet paper holder was broken

No coffee making facilities in room, found a common area kitchen one floor below, but no cups! Nowhere to hang clothes in room
Contactless checkin, sent an electronic key to use with phone to open doors, so never saw any staff as I didn't use restaurant on first floor. Room was clean and good bathroom size. Kept in the loop with good email information . Good location on main tourist street

Perfect location, room was very clean, bathroom was clean but towel rack and tp holder were broken, annoying but not the worst thing. The room we were in on the second floor, we did get woken up twice to other guests being loud in the night, so walls are a bit thin but it wasn't overwhelming. Breakfast was great with made to order eggs and bacon, fresh warm break pancakes and other cold options.

Room service almost barged in when we were stepping out of the shower and the street could get noisy from time to time.
This room was great for an overnight stay. Centre location. Greeted by friendly staff. Comfy beds and great food down in the Centrum Kitchen, along with great service by the waiting staff.
